“Very nice hotel -great location”
Convenient to train station for airport bus access. Also close to train to get to Citycenter and Temple Bar area. Staff very helpful.
“Awful bed”
This bed was the worst bed I have ever slept in. The location is not close to downtown however it is close to the train station with easy access into the city. I would not come back
“not impressed”
lobby is more updated than rest of hotel. Rooms and halls are outdated, very dingy. For a place just to get a night's sleep it's ok, but do not recommend walking around area at night.j Wifi does not work in rooms, only lobby
“Nice Hotel in a Convenient Location”
We stayed one night at the Ashling Hotel. We found the hotel to be in a very convenient location.A short ride to the city center. Close to the train station, airport busses, Hop on Hop off busses, and other city transportation. We were able to take a short walk to a great pub for dinner. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Our only complaint was that our room was too warm. Despite the cool outside weather the room remained very warm throughout the night with the window open.
“Dublin-Ashling hotel - very good hotel”
Being located so near the Heuston train station (3-4 minute walk) was really wonderful for us as we had some trains to catch early morning and also returned rather late (twice). Being able to walk over to the train and back was a great convenience. This is a bit waya from the bustling Temple Bar which was a positive for us but may be a negative for some others.
“Awesome hotel.”
This was an awesome hotel. I highly recommend it.
“Great for the Price”
We stayed here not knowing the area. It's about a 20 minute walk to Temple Bar (or a quick ride on the trolly which is right outside the hotel) and local shopping. Being 2 females we walked everywhere during the day and cabbed it back at night. It's about a 20 euro cab ride from the airport, which is about the same you would pay for two people taking a shuttle. And it's about a 10 euro cab ride from temple bar. The staff was more than friendly! I would definitely recommend this hotel!
“Staying here the next time we go to Dublin!”
The Hotel was amazing. Everything was really clean, and when we entered the hotel late at night they always checked our names and room number which made us feel really safe. A taxi ride to temple bar was about 7-8 euro. Great location and great hotel.
“Convenient hotel in Dublin”
We did not want to rent a car in Dublin so we looked at hotels that had easy access to transport around the city. The Ashling was perfect for this, the bus, red line tram, and train station are all within a 1 to 2 minute walk. We ended up buying a 7 day tram ticket and used that to get around. The red line travels up the north side of the Liffey river, temple bar is to the south. It's not a long walk though and for us the red line was easier. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful with questions about the city. The beds were a bit stiff but not to bad, we never slept poorly. The showers were a bit of an annoyance as you could never get the water to stay at the same temperature, it was either scalding hot or luke warm. The food at the hotel was not that great and a bit over priced. There are several pubs within a minute walking distance that have better food. Especially Ryan's, their soups are amazing and the guiness pie was excellent. Also if you like Irish whiskey try their 5 whiskey sampler. The middleton very rare was the best whiskey I have ever had, it's amazing try it if you can. Unfortunately it's about a hundred euro if you want to bring home a bottle. We did splurge on a glass of it before we left though. We defeinetely would stay here again as we were not looking for luxury, just a convenient hotel, that was not overpriced, and close to transportation.
“Good service, though similar can be had for less”
Overall I was satisfied with my stay here. The staff were always courteous, if somewhat business-like in their manner. The room was in good condition and well-cleaned. About the only complaint I can mention regarding the hotel's condition is the water pressure in the shower, which could be somewhat uneven. However, to my mind the hotel was slightly overpriced, as I was able to find accommodations of similar quality for about €20-30 less elsewhere in Dublin during my stay, and closer to the city center at that. It depends on where you plan on spending most of your time in Dublin, of course, but you may want to see if you can't find less expensive accommodation elsewhere in the city before you book here. The hotel is quite close to Heuston Station, though, so it might be a good choice if you plan on traveling out from Dublin by train at some point. The Ashling is also comparatively close to the Guinness Storehouse and Kilmainham Gaol, so it might also be a place to consider if you're planning on checking out these attractions. All in all, a decent place to stay in Dublin.
