“Awesome”
Very friendly, very comfortable hotel.... had everything we wanted and needed.
“The service saved our stay.”
We were most impressed by the service. Our room was quite cold when we got there so the one person manning the desk brought up a portable heater. He also gave us a wake-up call and helped us find a bus to take to the airport. The room itself was not impressive. The bedsheets had cigarette burns in them and the blanket was too thin. Fortunately we were too tired to care too much.
“Good for a budget”
This hotel was a good deal and for the most part comfortable. However, being on the outskirts, it is a bus or cab ride from city centre which is inconvenient if you want to step outside into the heart of Dublin.
“I enjoyed it and will go back again.”
It is good value for the money, comfortabe, clean and staff are very courtious. Very convenient location and close to bus stop to go anywhere in Dublin. To eat in hotel is expensive, also there are over priced Italian and Thai restaurants across the street. Pizza and Chinees take away is reasonable.
“Don't bring the car!”
Hotel was very good, but we had to pay for hotel car park in advance when we checked in and we couldn't get a space in the car park on the second night,no refund given.
“Skylon”
For the price this hotel was very nice. The exterior, lobby and hallways weren't the greatest (seemed to be undergoing maintenance) but the room was nice, clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel is about halfway between the city center (or 'downtown' as we Americans call it) and the airport. I would stay there again,
“Pleasant and friendly”
We had a good sized room with good amenities considering the price. Housekeeping was excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed having a pint in the lounge and the carvery lunch was good and reasonably priced. The nearest laundry is on Lower Drumconda Road, right by the rail station, about a 15 minute walk. I mention this because we stayed 13 nights and have found that hotel laundry prices are exorbitant. I got our laundry washed, dried, and folded at the Drumconda Laundry for 10 euro. The bus stop across the street has numerous buses that all operate via the city center. Cost to ride to the city center is 1.30 euro. It's about a ten minute bus ride. I could walk to the city center in about half an hour. I recommend the Cat and Cage for pub food. It's about one block from the hotel. Good food, reasonably priced, in a friendly environment. Location close to the Croker is a mixed blessing. The Irish take their Gaelic sports very seriously and every time their was a Gaelic football or hurling match, the place was swarming with team jerseyed, Guinness swilling supporters. We viewed this as local color, others might consider it an inconvenience. I have no complaints about this hotel.
“really nice”
the staff was very nice and the hotel was quaint and lovely. you need to take a bus to get into the city, but the bus routes are easy and its on a major road so its esy to figure out. i would go back in a heart beat and stay in this lovely hotel.
“Skylon Hotel.”
Nice hotel in a reasonable location and reasonably priced. Near bus lines and within a long walk from Dublin city center. Many take away(out) resturants nearby some of which are very good. Staff of the hotel were helpful and friendly, beds are a little hard and the T.V. remote controls do not work well if at all. I would stay there again when traveling to Dublin.
“OK for a night”
Location put us within 10 min. bus ride to center of town.
