“Dublin Thanksgiving”
Loved every minute.
“Great location, Good Price”
The Academy Plaza was a great value hotel, in a good location of dublin. I asked for a quiet room and had no trouble with noise. The location of the TV in the bedroom is crazy, but the maid staff and front desk were helpful. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for a moderate living space while visiting dublin!
“Close to everything, but other negatives!”
In the middle of everything, GREAT location! Hotel is clean. There's no wi-fi in the rooms, unless you sit in the doorway with the door open, apparently this allows them to state that there's free wi-fi. Breakfast was horrible, dirty dishes, smashed eggs, very unsatisfied. If you want a clean hotel close to everything, and don't care about breakfast or wi-fi, this will work great.
“Thierry Dublin Nov 2011”
At the corner of the shopping area with the most helpful and kind staff. Rooms are smaller than expected but still of decent size and well kept.
“Fine for a night”
The room was clean, the staff very nice, the breakfast great, the only two problems our second night we could not connect to the Internet - front desk did try and help oh we'll. The biggest problem was when folks flushed their toilet the noise is quite something. It settles down but at 3:45 am it started up again, maybe someone had tummy -trouble...no going back to sleep. Even with ear plugs! If you are a sound-sleeper then no problem, I had read the reviews and they said they had fixed the problem! Hopefully they do because everything else was fine, I felt very safe.
“Small but clean and comfy”
Room was on the small side but had a full size shower which was great. Very clean and functional!
“Great location - Easy transportation”
The hotel itself, along with the staff was very good. The convenient location to O'Conner Street, shopping, sites, etc. was great. The airport express, tour, and city bus service were all right in front of the hotel. Rooms and facilities were modern and pleasant.
“Showers need some maintenance”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Dublin and Ireland in general. The only complaints I have about this hotel were about the showers and the cleaning staff. Although the room was comfortable overall I wasn't impressed with the size of the TV and the water temperature in the shower. We stayed in the hotel for a weekend with two other couples and all of us found that the showers would fluctuate from hot to cold every few seconds. I don't know if this is a water saving technique but it definitely made for an uncomfortable shower. The other area of improvement may not be because of the cleaning staff per se but every morning after a long evening full of craic we would wake to the sound of slamming doors. The noise/vibration caused our headboard to shake every time a door was shut. This might be a design flaw (heavy doors) or maybe the cleaning staff really didn't care. Overall the location couldn't have been beat and the front desk cafe lobby staff were wonderful but I just wish there were more positive qualities of the hotel.
“Great location, Good Room, Great Price”
You can't ask for a better location for a hotel. An easy and beautiful walk to shopping and Dublin's temple bar area. Both hop on hop off bus companies stop right around the corner near a taxi stand for anyone needing them. The rooms are the typical small rooms in Europe not really a problem for single travelers, but two people might have trouble storing luggage in the room. The water seemed to alternate between hot and luke warm in a steady pateern while showering, perhaps an energy saving attempt. The biggest caution I have is the restaurant in the lobby, Abacus. They offer an all you can eat buffet for 13 euro, skip it!!!! I made the mistake after a tiring day and could not believe how bad it was. I didn't expect much as it's Asian themed and in a hotel lobby but it still disappointed. Save your cash and hit any resturaunt on the street. Even the burger king or mcdonalds around the corner is a better choice if you're tired of the pub scene. After expressing my displeasure I was told many people enjoy it all week and offered a discount that amounted to the cost of my drink.
“Fun time in Dublin”
Initially the hotel was a little hard to find, but once we got there it was great, the staff was very helpful and nice. The hotel was in a perfect place for seeing Dublin and very convienient for the double decker bus pick up and other tours. You could walk right out the door and shop and eat away, everything was very close by. The room as a bit tight with the 2 double beds but very comfortable and clean. We would definately stay here again if in Dublin.
