“A Wonderful Splurge!”
This was one of the most wonderful hotels I've ever stayed in. The grounds were lovely, the staff incredible and the rooms amazing. Dining options, while limited, were good and full of character. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from Delkey town center and the DART so it makes getting in to the big city of Dublin easy. However, spend time exploring Killiney Park and the little town of Delkey - both are wonderful. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to help. I arrived way before posted check-in time and they accomodated my early check in. An absolutely wonderful hotel.
“The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, thank you”
Thank you to the staff, this was our first trip to Ireland and the staff was very helpful with answering my emails before we even checked in and all through out our stay, My husband and I loved Ireland and can't wait for our next visit;
“Wonderful Experience”
Loved this hotel! Close enough to Dublin for easy access but situated in the most charming town. Will be back again next year!
“Beautiful setting”
Rooms were comfortable and clean. The area is gorgeous and it is a short walk (.5km?) to Dalkey village and the coast. The hilly neighborhood is perfect for walking, with the hotel set among beautiful old homes. The hotel itself is old fashioned in a nice way. A bit rickety, but it suits the place. Nice bar/restaurant in the basement with accommodating staff. The only small irritation was a clumsy wireless service login and to a weak signal. I had to bring my laptop over near the hall door to get an sort of reliable service. As expected, a bit noisy as it caters to lots of group events - weddings, etc. in addition to tourists.
“Only stay here if you get a room facing the front of the hotel.”
Our room was terrible. There is no AC and we had a room facing the inside of the hotel so there was no breeze when we opened the windows. The rooms that faced out from the front of the hotel had big windows that would open and get a great breeze. The front desk was rude and would not even entertain moving us to a different room when we asked. The Dungon bar was fantastic and the bartenders were great. The piano player on Friday night was amazing. They have a great, fully functional gym.
“Very pleased”
Stayed 8 nights in family room (although only 2 of us). Room was large with 2 queen beds , sofa, table, chairs. Fruit basket, chocolates, cookies, bottled water daily . Beautiful indoor pool , very nice steam room , sauna,-free to guest. Nice after a day of sight seeing. Villiage very charming . Spent time at Dalkey-Irish Sea, Castle, Churches. lovely homes to view, as well as taking train into Dublin. Tea in lobby good. Bar for Irish cofee recommended We had a rental car (need a GPS in Ireland) that we used to get into Dalkey..long walk to town center and back unless into hiking. Also, best part of Ireland is the beautiful countryside , so driving around is a hightlight of Ireland.
“Little further outside of Dublin than expected...”
The Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel is a very nice hotel, with very well appointed rooms. Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and more than willing to help with directions. The hotel is a little further outside of Dublin than I thought it would be, not being from the area. The hotel is actually located in a suburb called Dalkey (not Dun Laoghaire, like indicated by the hotels actual address. If you take the DART out to the hotel, that's the station you want to get off on). If you are not renting a car, it can take you a substantial amount of time daily to commute back and forth from the city (about thirty minutes or more). If you're prepared for this, then it's a great location! I think it would have been better if we had a heads up.
“Our Dublin Hotel of Choice”
As we tried to plan our next day in Dublin, Kevin (the Concierge on duty) came down and sat with us, helping us map our a day that would maximize our short time there. Everything from walking directions to the train into the city to what to see, he was a font of information and help! When we arrived at the AMAZING breakfast buffet the next morning, he was there again with more information for us! Fitzpatrick was a delightful experience for more reasons than just the accomodations.
“Nice Hotel”
The hotel was lovely. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed wasn't very comfortable and the carpets needed to be vacuumed in our room. Overall, we had a lovely stay.
“Loved this area of Ireland”
Nice hotel outside the main hub of Dublin, less then 10 min. walk to Dalkey village and trains. Hotel staff was very helpful, food was good, and we enjoyed our stay.
