“Won't go back”

Very loud disco until 2:30 AM. Slamming doors, loud noise in hallways most of the night. Would never return or recommend.

“Good Value for the Price”

We stayed at Harcourt for one night in September at the beginning of our trip. The staff were friendly and welcoming - they were able to get a room ready for us upon our early arrival around 11AM, which was nice after an overnight flight! It's conveniently located and in walking distance of many attractions - we walked to St. Stephens Green, Temple Bar area, Grafton Street and Guinness Factory (we took the 123 bus to the factory, but walked back). We took the Aircoach bus from the airport to get here (8 Euro p/p), and it was only about a 5 minute walk from the Lower Leeson St. bus stop. A cab ride to the Heuston train station the next morning from Harcourt was only about 12 Euro (and the front desk arranged the pick up in advance to keep us on schedule). Breakfast is offered in the attached restaurant and is okay for a quick bite on the way out. The rooms were standard, we had enough room to move around. We were on the ground floor of the attached building next door and we did hear what sounded like a big party going on outside our window (on a Tuesday night!), but it wasn't so loud that it kept us awake. Overall, I thought it was a good value for the price we paid for a quick night in Dublin.

Area recommendations
Short walk from beautiful St. Stephens Green as well as Grafton Street for shopping.

“OK Hotel”

The price was good and was convenient to get to from the Dublin Airport by bus. There was much noise from band music and outside noise from people in the streets. The tram also runs right in front of the hotel and that adds to the noise. The hotel is close to many areas and restaurants in the area are plentiful. Hotel people were very friendly.

Area recommendations
This area around Trinity College and St. Stephens Green are very nice for a large city such as Dublin.

“Loud at night”

We asked for a quiet room having read the reviews, but believe me, it was not quiet. Two of the three nights we stayed there I did not get much sleep. The third night sleep occured from sheer exhaustion. The housekeeping staff seemed to have trouble all three days remembering to leave towels, tea, coffee, and cups for the three of us that stayed in the room. The beds were ok, and the shower was good. We had a wierd maze to get to our room including an elevator ride up 2 floors, a few minutes of walking, and a flight of stairs down too with no additional elevator. Made luggage transport very difficult.

“Can't get there from here.”

Difficult to get to if unfamiliar with Dublin. Parking was a challenge for our ford transit van as it would not fit into the garage they assinged us. The location is good and in walking distance of "Major Shopping and site seeing spots around St. Stephen's Green. Get bus tour tickets which will save you a lot of walking. Hop on Hop off is worth it.

Area recommendations
Trinity College, St Stephens Green, all of the museums you have time for, the HOP ON HOP off bus trip, Grafton Street shopping.

“nightclub noise”

the staff was great and seemed eager to make sure my needs were met. Unfortunately I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone because of the noise from the nightclub just behind the Hotel. It lasted till 3 or 4 a.m. I was moved and slept in three different rooms because my TV was not working and every room had the same problem. So I suppose if this hotel was on a quiet street I would certainly recommend it.

Not sure I know enough to make a recommendation.

“Great location, Great staff, nicely aged”

Extremely friendly staff- very eager and willing to help with everything. We arrived early, and they even let us check in early-without a fee. They also stored our bags after check-out on the last day so we didn't have to pack it around. Hotel is very clean, does show some signs of wear, but is in completely acceptable conditions, it's very pretty. Big rooms for some we have seen in Europe. The club is a little bit loud, but it did not bother us- you can put in your notes you would like a quiet room away from the noise, and they will accommodate... They made our trip super easy, we could walk everywhere! There is a GREAT bagel shop on the street, and as someone else posted, take the DART to Howth, it's a fabulous little fishing town, you would be disappointed to miss it!

Area recommendations
The surrounding area has TONS TO SEE. You can get a map at the hotel and they will tell you all kinds of places to see, such as St. Paul's Cathedral, the Guiness Factory, The Jameson Distillery... The Bleeding horse has the best food we've ever had, EVER. Try the pie of the day. YUM!!!!!! Also, taking the DART around is great, our friends went to Bray and really liked walking the shoreline, and we went to Howth, a charming fishtown, full of fish markets and seafood restaurants. The scenery is to die for and you can watch the fishermen come in on their boats- the seals follow them in, and you can feed them and watch them in the water, it was sooo neat!

“Don't Believe the Hype, It Has Lost Its Charm.”

If you are American and you are looking for "Irish" hospitality, you will not find it here. I am hard press to say you will find it anywhere in Dublin, as it has changed so much. I think it is important to know that when you travel to Ireland these days, you will be fleeced and treated rudely while in the process. I don't know who does the ratings of hotels in Dublin, Ireland, but let me tell you that this is NO three star hotel. I stayed in this hotel 10 years ago and had a great time, back then it could have been given such a rating, but not now. The room was a shoebox; it had drapes and bedspread that dated back into the 1950's and the beds themselves could have come from that decade as well. I couldn’t sleep the bed was so uncomfortable. One of the bedspread had something sticky on it..gum, your guess is as good as mine. There was a lamp on the desk that never worked. I had to call and ask twice for the heat to be put on, as there was no heat throughout the whole building, and the day was raw and cold. The service was lacking and quite cold. I had relatives call and leave messages that I never got. I mean I could go on and on, but just don’t stay here.

Area recommendations
I would suggest that you get a car, the dart, or a bus and go see some of the country side. Don't spend all your time in Dublin. If you want to travel around the city, get a bus pass for as many days as you are going to be there; it gives you the option of taking any bus with out having to pay the 2.20p that you have to pay each ride.

“The Harcourt Hotel - Trip Dub”

The Harcourt Hotel provided quality service during my stay. It is conveniently located within 5 minutes walking distance of Grafton St. - a major shopping area. All staff members were quite friendly and helpful. Thank You, Harcourt Hotel... I will stay there again when on future Dublin Trips.

“Great location for price”

Standard hotel for the cost. Rooms were clean and beds were ok. Some of the walls are paper thin and we could hear some of our neighbors conversations and every step the people made in the room above us. Great location. 5min walk to Stephens Green and 10min walk to Grafton Street for shopping and nightlife. Trinity College, National Gallery & Museum are about a 15min walk away. Staff were extremely helpful, answered all our questions and gave great directions. The hotel has a nightclub called N2. We were there in Sept so I don't know if its the off season but not much was happening in the nightclub. They played music from 10pm to 2am and there were only about 10 people there. If you cant handle noise I would suggest wearing earplugs. I wore my IPOD and had no problems sleeping. The bar was a little disappointing. The bar had a limited selection of food which included standard american appetizers (nachoes, potatoes skins, chicken wings, etc.) and service was extremely slow. It was about an hour before we got our food. However, on a positive note they have some of the cheapest Guinness around that tastes great! If your staying here and don't want to walk 10min to Grafton street to eat, check out the Italian resturant right next to the hotel. Everything we ordered was good and affordable and the service was great.

Traveler's tip
Take a lightweight rain jacket. Even if it looks sunny with no clouds the weather seems to change every hour.
