great stay for lowkey or social solo travelers
I loved staying here - the location was excellent, the pods and en suite bathrooms were great (10 second limit on water each push notwithstanding, but you make it work), the common areas and activities made it so easy to make friends. I got coffee or a beer from the lounge area every day - it was so nice! Very sweet staff. I definitely recommend staying here especially if you're traveling solo in Dublin! You can make your stay whatever you want :)

There was no power socket in a pod. It could use only usb-A in a pod, which is out-dated. It needs to be replaced by usb-C, otherwise people cannot recharge their phones or other devices. Room cleaning was too early. They said room cleaning starts at 10am even though the checkout is 11am. So, you should be prepared by 10am. This totally doesn’t make sense. While they were cleaning, there was no room to pack my bag, so I had to ask the cleaning people to leave my room. The hostel should change the checkout time to be 10am. Except these two, everything was nice. It was quite a modern facility. Thanks to a curtain for each pod, privacy can be safely kept. A locker is given to each person.

Not coming back
Met with incredibly rude and judgemental female staff member who was more interested in the music playing than resolving the problem/explaining to me what the problem was (3rd party issue - she obstinately claimed the card declined despite my receipts). Her manager was very polite and helpful. Room was as expected, although 6-bed dorms have no sound insulation so don't expect to sleep much. Housekeeping also arrived 1h before checkout, so I hope they enjoyed watching me get ready to leave. I don't plan on coming back

I enjoyed the stay at this hostel. Located close to many restaurants and social activities. The pods were spacious and I love the secured locker. My best tip is to code the secured locker code nightly simply because in a shared room, you may not know who is looking. My only con is the timed showers and sinks. It is hard to wash your hands for even 10 seconds when it shuts off every 5 seconds. I would definitely stay here again even though it is a little pricey for a hostel. But you will get the space, cleanness, great customer service which is worth paying extra.

The staff and facilities were great. Everyone was very friendly, understanding, outgoing, and helpful. I stayed in the 12 mix room and it was great. I had a wonderful time and recommend this to anyone traveling to Dublin. It is so close to the tram and theres more than enough cabs to go around. Its a super location within walking distance of everything great in Dublin. Only complaint is that the showers run on the colder side so be prepared for a cold shower. They did warm up a little when lots were showering at the same time.

I stayed at Jacobs Inn to run the Dublin marathon. It was perfect for my stay. Everyone including staff and guests were polite and friendly. There was Live music in the bar area in the evening. The rooms are basic but clean. You get a code protected Large locker to store your suitcase and bags. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Nice hostel with a live band on in the bar. The room was a bit hot, even with the window open in late September!

Comfortable pods
I really liked having my own pod in the dorm. The dorm also had its own bathroom and I loved there there was a small light in the room that would illuminate when the bathroom was occupied so you didn't have to awkwardly knock to see if it was available (there was a larger bathroom down the hall available also). Friendly staff. Centrally located. I never felt unsafe in the area but I was aware that if I was out late or when I was heading out for my early bus to the airport that there were people hanging out in the area for no apparent reason, but I never had any problems.

Good for a hostel
Pros: Pod-style, beds are comfortable, rooms are big, each pod has its own locker. Affordable for Dublin standards. Cons: Like any other hostel, expect noises (some obnoxious young people making unnecessary loud noise outside late at night) and minimal service (bring everything on your own or purchase some at the market). Common area can get crowded. The WiFi is very slow, I ended up using my own cellular data. There are only USB outlets in the pods. Pillows are old. Overall, while it may need some updating, it’s good for a hostel if you just need a place to crash.

Loved our stay at Jacob’s Inn, booked out a 4 bed dorm for our stay. Loved the set up of the beds, lots of space in the room, lovely bathroom. Participated in hostel quiz which was good fun. Friendly staff and decent food&drink. Good location and easy to get around the city

Cute but..
I was pleasantly surprised at how cute this hostel was. It's clean, lively, staff is friendly, and overall my experience was great. The morning breakfast was so yummy and fun to meet new people, I didn't attend the social events but friends I made reported having so much fun. Girls in my dorm were so nice and ended up becoming good friends from all over the world. The bathroom in the dorm was nice and clean but could use a deep clean as I noticed mold in the shower on the walls and corners. The pods seemed clean, but the walls of the pods could use wiping, not just linen changes. Out of the control of the hostel, there was one person who made our dorm smell sour and very stinky. I made many reports to the front desk who did the best they could with what they were allowed to do, but 1 person of a 10 pod dorm should've been moved or alerted to attend to their personal hygiene as everyone in the dorm had to deal with the stench. No amount of febreze could've helped that (we tried) and the small window in the room didn't ventilate the room appropriately. As this was out of the control of the staff, we all just waited it out and did our best to stay out of the room during the day.

My stay at Jacobs Inn was really great! The rooms and bathrooms were really clean and the bed was comfortable. The pods were great for privacy as well. I did find that the shower in the ensuite of the room wasn’t very good and seemed to flood the bathroom everytime it was used, so I opted to use the main showers and they were much better. The menu at the bar downstairs said there were vegetarian options available but when I went down and asked one night I was told that they were doing tacos so I could have a taco with just the lettuce and cheese? So an improvement on the veg options would be great. I would stay again and would recommend to others.

The whole experience to enter upto your room using an app was amazing, very new concept. The staff are amazing, very helpful. The music they play in the reception area at night is just too good. The pods are quite nice and sufficient. The only problem I felt were in the bathroom taps, they have a 5 secs limit, need to constantly keep putting them on, was very annoying. Great overall experience otherwise.

The Staff were amazing, they pour a great pint! Everything was very clean, felt very safe. Lots of good pubs in the area. The only thing is the pods were so uncomfortably hot even with a fan. It was really hard to get a sleep. I would recommend still. Maybe for 1 or 2 nights.
