“Great Hotel”
We stayed at the Mespil for 4 nights in May 2009. Great hotel: very clean, exceptionally comfortable bed, great price. Loved the free wi-fi. It's a 10 minute walk from Trinity College, in a neighborhood with lots of coffee shops & restaurants. I would definitely stay there again.
“Very Good”
Really good value for money, rooms very friendly staff. Rooms more than nice, as was rest of hotel.
“Great Dublin Trip Base.”
The Mespil has a convenient parking lot behind the hotel. The rooms were great. The hotel is right on the canal which makes it a small hike to many of the popular areas of Dublin, such as Temple Bar and the shopping districts. We enjoyed the 15-20 minute walks through Georgian Dublin, but we love to walk. One of the double decker tour bus companies also comes to the front door of the Mespil, ask at the front desk for details.
“Nice business class hotel”
If you want a nice business class hotel, then this is a good place. It is south of the main city attractions, but those can be reached by a 20 minute walk. The hotel also has ample parking, so if you have a car because you plan to explore other parts of Ireland this is a great place to stay.
“Really nice hotel, a 10 minute walk away from everything”
hotel was really nice, staff were friendly and helpful and the location was perfect, 10 minute walk away from everything so there was no need for constant taxi's....well only to and fro the airport of course! starbucks close by if you dont want breakfast at the hotel but hotel food was nice as well. i would go back.
“An excellent price for a lovely hotel”
The hotel was welcoming, comfortable and clean. The room was very comfortable, spacious, clean and well maintained. It was a good 15 minute walk to sites etc but lovely by the canal. We tried to get to the hotel via the DART but it was a long walk from the station. The bus stops just around the corner from the hotel and its about 10 minutes into town. The hotel staff were wonderful as we got struck down with food poisoning. They tended to our every need. They also communicated well before our trip when we emailed them asking questions.
“Great hotel in a lovely neighborhood”
This hotel was excellent! We arrived early (about 10:00 AM) to the hotel, due to the fact that we had taken the red eye. I emailed the staff on the day before we left to inquire about checking in early, or at the very minimum, dropping off our bags. They replied promptly, and even though they couldn't guarantee that a room would be available at that time, we could leave our bags with no problem. We were delighted to find out that they had a room available for us. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and nice. The only negative thing about the room was that the bed was a bit too firm for our personal preference. The restaurant had a delicious breakfast every morning. It was worth the extra money to eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The neighborhood was excellent. It is not in the immediate touristy area of the city, but that area is easily accessible by foot, or by a 5 minute cab or bus ride. The pubs, restaurants, and businesses that surround the hotel are great! We really liked the opportunity that we had to be the only tourists in the neighborhood pubs. This allowed us to make friends with the locals (the Irish are the friendliest people in Europe), and to get a truer picture of life in Dublin. We have stayed in the touristy areas before, but preferred this area to Temple Bar or the Grafton Street area. We recommend this hotel to anyone, whether it is their first trip to Dublin or their tenth. We will be back!
“Fantastic place to stay!”
The hotel was beautiful, much moreso than I'd expected from pictures I saw online. We had a canal view room, and nearly everything in the city was within walking distance. For the price, it was well worth it! We could have stayed in a hostel for nearly as much per night, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been as nice and relaxing. A great choice for anyone traveling to Dublin.
“Mespil Hotel March 2009 Review”
Was there for leisure 2 weeks ago. Check in was a breeze, they didn't have availability in their card park that night (It was a Friday) but I parked on the street for free for the weekend, which worked out great. The hotel was clean, comfortable and fully enjoyable. We were in town to check out Dublin and the location was actually really nice. Dublin is such a compact city that it was an easy walk to everywhere from the Hotel. I highly recommend Mespil!
“Looking forward to next stay”
When booking early would like a room overlooking canal rather than car park
