“Does not deserve to be called a four star hotel!”
This hotel does not deserve to be called a four star hotel. Our hotel had a seriously lumpy bed, ugly view, no room service, no refrigerator, no bath robes and no wash cloths. The staff needs to smile more.
“Pleasant stay for a first timer”
My husband and I decided to celebrate my birthday in Dublin. Neither of us have ever been to Europe. We usually travel to the tropics or west coast for fun, so we decided to try something new. The O'Callaghan was nice enough. I suppose in Europe it's considered a 4 star, though here in the US I would think it's closer to 3. The food was so-so, bordering on not great. The front desk staff was unpredictable. They were all nice enough, but none were overly friendly or helpful. More like they did their job and nothing above or beyond. However, the bartender at night, Anthony, was an absolute joy! He was probably one of the best parts of the trip. He was one of the true Irishmen who worked at the hotel and came with the charming brogue and classic Irish attitude. I actually would stay at this hotel again simply to have another chance to interact with him. Hands down, he's the reason why I gave this review as high a rating as I did.
“Best Stay in Ireland”
Had a wonderful stay and would love to go back
“should be better”
We stayed at this hotel twice during our trip to Ireland (when we arrived and prior to departure). Our first time was much better than the second. Our second visit was terrible. We were on the 2nd floor room. No ventilation or temp control, and we opened the windows. Unfortnuately, there was a loud roof fan outside that kept us awake. Thin walls, could hear tv from next room. if you stay there...ask for a front facing room, and ask for the 5th or 6th floor. very convienient to attractions and air-coach to the airport.
“Good Choice”
This hotel was only about a 10 minute walk from Grafton Street, so it was a good location and a good price. The toilets were a little slow, but that was the only thing that wasn't good. The rooms were clean and nice. And the beds were comfortable.
“not reputable”
poor desk service, hotel restaurant closed, bathroom in poor condition. promoted a phone service with in-room advertising that ended up costing me $200 for 3 short calls when I got my credit card bill at home.
“Great place in Dublin”
very charming hotel. Very convenient to the best parts of Dublin. Next time i'm back, I'll stay here.
“Conveniently located near Trinity and Pearse Rail Station”
I stay at the O'Callaghan Alexander during business trips to Ireland. It is very convenient to Trinity College, and within easy walking distance of a number of good restaurants, the shopping district and Pearse railway station.
“Great Location”
We stayed at the Alexander for week while visiting Dublin. The hotel was clean and a nice place to come back to after long days of sightseeing. The location was ideal: very close to many things, restaurants, attractions, but far enough away to offer a restful place at night. Neighborhood is safe. Great access to buses. Staff was very helpful with guiding us on day trips. Can't wait to go back.
“One of Dublins best hotels”
