“Charming Place”
Nice place in Merrion Square, old ... but most hotels are in this area. Good service, you have to pay for internet though.
“Irish charm”
We really enjoyed our stay at the O'Callaghan Davenport. It is conveniently located within walking distance to Trinity College and the bus stops. The hotel itself is very nicely decorated. The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The only drawback was that the dining room was understaffed and the wait was slow. Although my daughter really enjoyed her irish stew, my husband and I were unimpressed with our selections from the menu. No worries there because there are plenty of restaurant options within walking distance. We would definitely return to this hotel in the future and recommend it to friends and family.
“Fantastic Hotel & Staff”
This hotel was all that I had hoped it would be. Location was fantastic in regard to public transportation. Bus stop for airport bus was right around the corner. Dart transportation a block away. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. Front desk helped me contact the airline late in the evening when the airline cancelled my flight. Rooms were large and comfortable. Side room was near a pub, but the noise from the pub was not too annoying and stopped at a reasonable time. I would highly recommend this hotel in regard to value and quality.
“Beautiful Hotel”
This was the first hotel we stayed at once we arrived in Ireland. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was very helpful. Our room was extremely clean and the beds were really comfortable!
“Great Stay at the Davenport”
I cannot say enough about the O'Callaghan's Davenport Hotel! There were three of us, inclusing my 80 year old mother. We had a double bed and one single in the room. The beds were nice and comfortable, the bathroom was wonderful--great water pressure and fluffy towels. The location of this hotel--right off Merrion Square is central to everything. I would not recommend the hotel breakfast--at 11.50euros, it's not worth it. But I'm definitely going to return. Wonderful trip!! BTW, I recommend the hop on/hop off tour busses. A great way to see the city and easier on the feet!
“Nice hotel, but noisy area”
The hotel is across the street from a pub, and all the rooms are on that side of the hotel, so unless your window is closed it will be very noisy.
“Recommend if you want to be close to shops and sights”
hotel is one block to Hop-on/Hop-off stops and short walk to St Stephens Greens and central London shops. Very clean hotel and tasty meals in bar area lounge. Lounge service extremely good. Safe area for night journey to central London shops and restaurants. If you want to be close to what is happening but not in the middle of the noise and crowds this is a great place to stay. Reasonable rates and oftne have specials.
“Great Hotel in a Great Location”
Very customer oriented staff and hotel. Room was oversized and very comfortable and spotless. Everything we wanted to see was within walking distance or was easily reachable by public transport. Pricing was very reasonable. They do have free internet at their business computer but you have to pay for wi-fi. No free breakfast included with stay but considering the very reasonable rate, it was not an issue. They do have an excellent room menu and restaurant and lounge available. We'll definitely stay there again on our next trip to Dublin!
“Great location, average service.”
The hotel was in a perfect location. Easily walkable to all of the major attractions, bars, restaurants, etc. The room was clean and very comfortable. However, the '24 hour room service' consisted of maybe 5 not-so-great options. It's hard to get food late night in Dublin, so the hotel should really offer more options. Luckily, there was a McDonalds's also in walking distance that was open 24 hours. Also, if you did pick up food on your way back to the hotel, you were not allowed to eat it in the lounge after a certain hour. But you could sit there and order drinks all night...'Room service' was available, but you could not eat that in the lounge either. They just refused to serve food and let you eat in the lounge after hours. Very strange. The gym room was ok, small but satisfactory. And they have a PC with internet in the lobby for free access, but just one. Also, once I ordered a bucket of ice, and I received about ten cubes. The hotel has very little ambiance, but luckily there is a Gingerman pub directly across the street with great service. I don't regret the experience, but I travel plenty for work and pleasure and so have certain expectations of service. If you plan on spending most of the time out and about, it's a good pick simply because of location, and the surrounding area is quiet which I did find to be a positive.
“Great Hotel @ Great Price @ Great Location”
Really liked this hotel. Location was a short walk to everything. Staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was clean. You could still get a Guiness at the bar at 2 in the morning. Nice coffee shop around the corner. Price was a steal for this place. 2 complaints, but minor ones, you have to put your room key in a slot to turn the lights on - no one told us. It was a little irritating. But I can understand why they have it. Number 2, If you have a car the parking garage is secure but frankly - a little scary. Overall, great place to stay and I woulf definitely stay there again.
