“One of Dublin's best”
Pembroke Town House was very comfortable from the moment we arrived. Our room was ready and breakfast was being served in dining room. The hotel is in a mostly residential area and is only a few blocks from most of Dublin's attractions, although taxi's are easily hailed from the street. Our room had king sized bed and a loft with a bed which was great for our teenage daughter. The bathroom was also unexpectedly large with a full sized tub & shower combo. The front desk was extremely helpful with restaurant suggestions in the neighborhood. They even saved our daughter's pizza in the fridge & heated it up for her the next day! If you are looking for a comfortable small lodging with a real Irish flavor, this is the place for you.
“Quite Charm”
The Pembroke is in the Georgian architecture area of Dublin and is a beautiful building both inside and out. The staff are friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff always keep everything just right. The dining area was nice with a good breakfast.
“I'd go back again.”
The room was reasonably priced (especially for Dublin) and very conveniently located for me. It was well-kept and clean. I had a room away from the street and it was very quiet. The hotel was well-decorated and attractive, but, oddly, the carpet seemed out of place, i.e. industrial-grade, not what you'd expect in a nice hotel. It struck me only because it was a bit out of place. The bed was fine, nothing special. In all, I would recommend it. It is not luxury, but it was well worth the price.
“Outrageous Internet charges not advertised.”
This was rated a 4-star hotel. Considering its amenities, I would give it three stars. Additionally, wireless Internet was 15 euro for 24 hours while in many other places, it is free. Would recommend only conditionally.
“Rooms very uncomfortable . . .”
Let me start by saying staff and cleanliness were very good. The location is great. However, the room was small and the bed and pillows were the most uncomfortable I think I have ever slept on. It was also listed as a Bed and Breakfast in Expedia. Breakfast was 10 for cold breakfast and 15 for hot breakfast. Because of its location, just a couple of blocks down the street were dozens of coffee cafes and neat pub'ish type eateries. Choose that over the one served in the hotels -- trust me!!
“Not a friendly experience”
On the one hand, Pembroke lacked the professional courtesy of a hotel and on the other, lacked the warmth and friendliness of a B&B. We felt like we were bothering the man at the front desk when we asked for directions, etc. The room itself was fine. All in all, it felt a bit like a motel with a nice lobby.
