“Great value!”

Our stay at the Portobello had only one drawback: it was situated directly over the pub, and due to the great weather which we experienced, the exterior seating was in use, and pub customers were loudly enjoying themselves until the early hours of the morning from about Thursday through Sunday. The room itself was modest, but very clean and tidy, and everything worked well. The breakfast in the morning was totally wonderful, and the staff were very accommodating. Though we were about 25 minutes walk from downtown, it was a great way to start the day; on those days when we had need to get there faster, the bus service was frequent, reliable, and near at hand. We would be glad to recommend the Portobello, with the caveat of advice on requesting a room away from the pub noise.

“Dont even think about it, this is a Roach Motel....”

No parking, A manager that argues with you and does nothing to help out but ask you to have a free beer on the house to calm down ! Did I mention the lack of PARKING ! Don get a rentla car as you cant park anywhere, this hotel does not have a parking lot, just streeet parking and that will cost you more than the car rental per week ! Do Not Go Here, go somewhere else....

Area recommendations
Grafton Street, Guiness Store House and Jamesons Distillery. Simply because of the History and the amount of things to see...
Shopping
If you want to get some local foods to try without going to a restaurent, find a store called Tesco Extra and go food shopping !
Other
Money ! and Credit Cards This was a big issue in Ireland and most of Europe, In the USA we dont have Smart cards that is to say our Credit cards are swipe cards, in Europe the cards are Smart cards that have "Chips" in them, you are going to find that many of the stores will not accept our cards from the states unless its a smart card... You have been warned....
