“Ideal for a Short Stay”

As a venue for a short stay to visit the city of the Dublin, the portobello was an excellent choice. Homely and comfortable, the room was more than adequate although basic and the staff on reception and in the breakfast room were very helpful. Although the pub was immediately beneath the bedrooms, there was minimal noise. The only other comment I would make is that if one is looking for an evening meal locally, this is probably not the place to stay as there isn't too much close by.

“Excellent place”

Away from the night time noise, but an easy walk to it! Hotest shower I have ever had, and never any need for lunch after you have had breakfast here.

“Great value!”

Our stay at the Portobello had only one drawback: it was situated directly over the pub, and due to the great weather which we experienced, the exterior seating was in use, and pub customers were loudly enjoying themselves until the early hours of the morning from about Thursday through Sunday. The room itself was modest, but very clean and tidy, and everything worked well. The breakfast in the morning was totally wonderful, and the staff were very accommodating. Though we were about 25 minutes walk from downtown, it was a great way to start the day; on those days when we had need to get there faster, the bus service was frequent, reliable, and near at hand. We would be glad to recommend the Portobello, with the caveat of advice on requesting a room away from the pub noise.

“Comfortable and Friendly”

I would recommend a stay at this hotel because the rooms are excellent, clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. You can get into Dublin centre with the direct bus outside the hotel.

“Good location and cute building/rooms”

The Portobello is a comfy 20-minute walk to city centre and located right on the canals. The bars nearby aren't too bad. Breakfast (which was included) was excellent! My only complaint was with the cleaning services in the room but as long as you called the desk, your wish was fulfilled. Oh - and no Internet; a bit surprising for a Dublin hotel.

“Will stay again in March”

Great room for the price. Just 20min walk to the city center and 8 euro cab ride back. Nice to be with the locals in the pub without the tourists. Room can be a bit noisy at night, but i was ok with it. Nice staff, comfy room, clean and spacious bathroom. Will stay again soon. Also, full breakfast is included and delicious.

Great value, good breakfast and only about 20min walk from Temple bar OR you can jump on a bus and get there in 5 mins.

“Nice hotel. Not so nice location.”

This hotel is very comfortable and friendly. It has two drawbacks. It is a solid fifteen minute walk away from the city center where all the sites to see are, which can become an annoying walk when you need to drop off bags or rest midday. Second, there is nightclub/bar below the hotel and music may keep you up at night.

a little far from Dublin center but close enough to walk and the convience of a full pub and sports bar downstairs made up for it, the breakfast is filling and good

“Not a bad place to stay”

The hotel was not bad, the room was a little small but had all the basic necessities. The staff would not let us check in early which was frustrating since we had an over night flight and were exhausted! The hotel staff was friendly and helpful and the cleaning crew always did a wonderful job. The bath tub leaked but had amazing pressure.
