“Excellent hotel, was a great surprise!”
The hotel was very clean, friendly employees and excellent location, as you have everything near and you are right there in the pub's street. A great choice!
“Good location, bad service”
The front desk personnel was not helpful at all( we asked for a wake up call at 6am - at 6.40 finally we got the call - needless to say we would have lost our international flight). The phone and hair dryer in the room were not working. The room is small, bathroom is big.- very loud fan in the bathroom. We did not have towels for 2 people. Definitely the worst hotel experience we had, but the location was good. The hotel was in renovation, so during the week construction started at 9 am. It has potential.
“Go elsewhere”
Our first stay on17 July was tolerable, but not glamorous: cheap towels, volume controlled on TV, dingy "courtyard" view from window (i.e. dumpster). When we returned on 25 July it was a circus act. Room #1 was overwhelmed by paint fumes so we switched rooms to a new floor. Room #2 was propped open and wrecked from construction, which the desk attendant was unaware of. She then handed us 3 keys to try. Room #3 was worse than Room #2: door propped open, TV on the bed, debris all over the floor - clearly a work room for renovations. Room#4 was clean and locked. Room #5 looked ok, but we were uncomfortable with yet another door propped open so we took Room #4. We took the liberty of reconnecting the TV that was unhooked and on a shelf. The following morning (day we had to catch a flight) there was NO hot water. After the morning desk attendant switched the boiler back on, we had to wait 45 minutes to shower. The shower leaked and ran all over the bathroom floor and out onto the carpet. The staff was very pleasant and tried hard, but this place has more short comings than they could make up for. If we hadn't prepaid, we would have gone elswhere and advise you do the same. There has to be better for your money.

Area:
Temple Bar - Dublin Castle, Dublin, Ireland: This small enclave by the river was developed into Dublins Cultural Quarter in the 1980s, and soon became the citys nightlife centre. Temple Bar is still devoted to eating, drinking, entertainment, and shopping. By day, its an arty alternative hangout; by night, groups of partying tourists make it a rowdier haunt. Near the famous Hapenny Bridge, Merchants Arch retains some of the areas atmosphere from a century or so ago.
