More of a 4 star with 5 star pricing

Posted Jul 7, 2014
While the ambience of the sitting areas and gardens are lovely, I found some details were lacking. It was the first hotel out of 6 in Ireland where the wifi wouldn't work and we were in rural areas prior to The Merrion. We also had several flies in our room and every time I'd kill one, another appeared. We requested the local paper (reception asked if we wanted it) and we never received it.

Old world charm with modern conveniences

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Cons: The staff in the drawing rooms were a bit young and inexperienced.
Location: Walking distance to all of the museums, Grafton street and Temple Bar....
This is my third time at the Merrion. It is actually one of my favorite hotels in the world. It has a great combination of old world feel, decor, rooms, grounds and ambiance. But it isn't outdated. The facilities are modernized with all of the conveniences one would expect. The staff is nice and helpful. The location is unbeatable. Walking distance to everything you want in Dublin.

Beautiful Georgian hotel

Posted Jun 6, 2014
Pros: Staff, decor, location
Cons: Noise from the basement, beds could be firmer
Location: This hotel is really well located for most Dublin attractions
The staff really are so welcoming, very friendly and genuine. The room was lovely, beautifully furnished and comfortable however the bed was a little soft for us. We didn't eat or drink in the hotel but any request we did make was dealt with quickly and efficiently.

ultimate luxury

Myself and two girlfriends had been living out of saddle bags for 7 days on a horseback riding tour. We ended our trip in Dublin, staying at the Merrion. We arrived tired, dirty and achy. Can't say enough nice things about the hotel staff. They were warm and friendly. The hotel amenities and appointments were superior. I would definitely return to the Merrion in the future.

There isn't anything bad I can say about this hotel... It was amazing the hotel and its rooms were beautiful, the staff we're friendly and more than helpful. We went for our honeymoon so spent a bit extra than normal but it was worth it, i'd recommend to anyone...

Fantastic hotel in a great location!

Posted Apr 29, 2014
Pros: Almost everything, see above - the service, in particular, was exceptional!
Cons: The food in the cellar restaurant was okay but was not as good as everything else during our stay
Location: Hotel is very central so, as above, is really close to most of the main attractions/shops/bars/restaurants.
The Merrion is definitely one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at - the room was fantastic and the service from all the staff second to none! The location was also brilliant, only a very short walk from Dublin city centre and many of the most popular bars, restaurants and attractions. The hotel facilities were also great, with a really nice swimming pool and gym and a spa which my wife enjoyed taking advantage of. It wasn't cheap but, all things considered, I also thought it was very good value for money!

Great luxury hotel

Posted Apr 27, 2014
Stayed for one night for a special birthday and couldn't have wished for anymore. The superior room with garden view was excellent. We dined at the Cellar Resturant and this was a truly first class service and quality. The breakfast the following day was also great with a large selection. We took a car, which was parked for us by the valet and was brought around to us the following day. A hotel with style and luxury.
