“Good value for what it is...”

My husband and I stayed here on the last night of our honeymoon because it was close to the airport. Getting there was a little tricky from Dublin center probably because it was rush hour & we took the longest way to get there. Once we arrived, we found the highway route to the hotel was right around the corner & we took that to get to the airport the next morning. This only took about 10-15 minutes. So we probably took the wrong road or something in order to find the place. But one should expect this when traveling in Dublin. The road system there is not easily navigated. The road signs are difficult to find & once you do, they may not be readable. But back to the hotel: we arrived, parked & were immediately concerned with the quality of the neighborhood. It seemed a bit shady. But once inside the hotel, it was very clean and hospitable. The overall feel was modern with minimalistic decor. The room was clean & had one of the more comfortable beds we'd experienced in Ireland. The bathroom had a few glitches though. The toilet was crooked. It looked like someone had broken it off at one point & caulked it back on crooked. So you kind of slid off it if you weren't careful. The shower was great-one of the best we encountered in our travels. Appropriate water pressure, lots of hot water & very clean. The bathroom itself had a weird smell but that could be attributed to whatever cleaners they were using. Overall: cheap, clean, not bad for what it is.

Area recommendations
We stayed at The Schoolhouse Inn on the opposite side of Dublin and it was beautiful there. I would highly recommend that neighborhood. The Inn was more expensive than the Metro Hotel but well worth it for the charm and refinement there.
Getting around
Don't drive in Dublin. It's a nightmare. We rented a car for the week and traveled all over the country. This mode of transportation was great for almost all parts of the country except Dublin. Even after you've gotten used to the different road signs and information on them, you'll still find the signage in Dublin near impossible to use. If you can find the road signs, they're usually worn away or rusted. They're not in the same place on every street because they're actually posted on the building that sits on the corner of the intersection. So depending on the architecture of the building, you may not see the sign till well after the intersection. Very tricky. Take a taxi or use the very handy Hop On Hop Off bus service in town.

“NO free shuttle”

It was very disappointing that I was charged for the shuttle when the only reason I chose this hotel was because the site said FREE SHUTTLE TO AND FROM AIRPORT . I was charged at the desk saying it was not included. It didn't matter how much it was, I felt it was false advertising and a rip off.

Area recommendations
Dublin is a fun and friendly city with beautiful churches, museums and great pubs. The city tour on the red double decker bus was great, giving us a feel for the city so we felt comfortable heading out on our own. Great walking city,, loved the people !!
What to pack
Glad we took warm clothing and an umbrella, weather changes every 10 minutes, but dressed properly with layers is not a problem.

“Last night in Dublin”

It is close to the airport and the M50 surrounding Dublin, but the hotel itself was a little dingy. They provide free pickup from the airport, but charge a couple euro to be taken back to the airport. The room was small so you had to squeeze between the end of the bed and the tv cabinet. The bed was nice, but the room I was in did not provide wireless access as they claimed, but I was able to get it in the hall or via a wired connection in the room. I asked for a different room to hopefully get access for the wireelss signal, but they told me that they were not able to change my rooms since it would most likely not make a difference. When I went to the bathroom, the shower didn't shut properly and it sprayed water all over the floor and the rest of the room and had to tighten the spout to get it to spray properly after I cleaned up the floor. The room was comfortable and clean on the inside, just a pain requesting something different. They did have a fancy towel warmer which was nice, but other than that it was the cheapest hotel I could find for a last minute stay.

Area recommendations
The town center is always a lot going on down there, but it is very expensive to park down there and very difficult to navigate if you are not used to the roads in Dubin or the surrounding areas.

“Good place to lay your head in Dublin”

This hotel was convenient to the airport and City Centre/Temple bar area. The taxi from Dublin Terminal 2 to the hotel front door was affordable. The hotel staff was warm and welcoming and extremely helpful. When we were looking to go into the Temple Bar area, the receptionist provided us with a map, instructions, and fare information regarding the use of public transportation. I would say that this is the perfect place to lay your head for a night or two in Dublin.

Area recommendations
City Centre/Temple Bar Area is a 15-20 minute bus ride from the hotel and is loaded with pubs, restraunts, and cultural sites.

“Good ınexpensıve hotel”

I've stayed at the Metro once before and like it because it is clean and modern with a low price and very convenient access to the airport.

“Good for a night near the airport”

Perfect for a night's sleep if you need to catch a plane the next morning. The transfer to and from the airport used to be free but it's now 2 Euros, which is still pretty decent. Not recommended if you're going to visit Dublin: in that case, stay closer to the city. And do have something to eat at the airport if you arrive late, there is no food available after 10:00 PM.
