Central hotel in Dublin

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: Its centrality in Dublin
Cons: Can't think of anything
Location: One is within walking distance of all the main tourist sites - Trinity College is just along the road; the main shopping areas are very close.
We enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was central but not noisy. The bar meals were of good quality and reasonable price.

Stayed overnight iin June 2 persons. Arrived late. Staff welcoming and helpful. We ate late at the bar. Brazil world cup started that night. Bar staff excellent attentive and engaging. Food excellent. Room good but could have benefited from air conditioning very hot ghat night. Opened windows. Noisy outside at times. Breakfast good. Would go back again.

Extremely smoky

Posted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: Location, d├ęcor, security
Cons: Smoking on the balconies should be banned. The carpets may need to be replaced. The air ducts need to be cleaned. This is NOT a smoke-free hotel.
The room reeked of cigarette smoke, especially whenever I turned on the air conditioner. If I had known this, I would have rented a less-expensive room on the Trinity College Dublin campus instead. This is a very pricey luxury hotel, and non-smoking guests expect a smoke-free environment at these prices. I could not wait to leave.

Comfortable and convenient for Dublin city centre

Posted Apr 30, 2014
Pros: It was convenient for the city centre and bus stop for the airport. The room was clean with a modern feel and, despite the location, was quiet.
Cons: There was very little storage space for clothes. No drawers, for instance, & hardly enough hanging space. Fine for 1, not enough for 2 people.
Location: The area outside the hotel is busy and adjoins the police and fire station. Crossing the road can be a pain as the lights seem to take an age.
My OH and I stayed for two nights. We had a standard double on the 4th floor. The hotel itself is lavishly Art Deco style in the bar and reception area, although the room itself was pretty normal. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We had breakfast on our last morning as it was highly rated in our Eyewitness guide book. But, while OK, it was pretty standard fare & nothing out of the ordinary for 10 euros. I'd stick with Bewley's on Grafton Street. The hotel's fake-grassed atrium area is pleasant when the sun shines but it's a shame it's aimed at smokers. As a non-smoker I'd like to sit outside & have a drink without reeking of smoke afterwards, especially when there's another outside seating area at the front smokers could also use.

Unusual welcoming

Posted Apr 28, 2014
Pros: Bed very comfortable.
Cons: Tap in bathroom sprayed water outside of the basin. Shaving mirror was over the toilet and not the basin.
Location: Good location close to Trinity College and all amenities of central Dublin.
Hotel changed its name between date of booking and date of arrival and didn't tell us. So we walked up and down Pearse Street looking for it. When we arrived, reception said at first they had no record of our booking, but then gave us a room. We took the lift to the correct floor, but the room direction signs didn't have our room number on it. When we finally found the room, it was a double although we had booked a twin, and bizarrely had skylights instead of windows. Exhausted! Hotel though was comfortable and breakfasts were good. Decor best described as exotic.
