“Great for families”
This is a modest, three-star hotel, but you get excellent quality for the price you pay. We have booked a "family room" for two years in a row, which is excellent for a family of four. The family room consists of two separate rooms with a connecting door, and two full bathrooms. One year we asked for and received a double bed on one side and two twins on the other, but although we asked again the second year, the hotel was very full and we had reserved late, so we got four twin beds instead, which was fine. The rooms are extremely clean and in good shape; the bathrooms have obviously been renovated recently and are lovely and large.
The hotel has an excellent swimming pool, which is great for kids, with towel service and a pool-side bar. It is a fairly long walk (10 minutes) to the closest public beach on the Adriatic sea. There is ample parking available, and the hotel is on a bus route which takes you to the old town, so we normally leave the car and take the bus to avoid parking problems. (Bus tickets available in the hotel shop.)
The buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant offers lots of choice and is very tasty. The same restaurant offers a reasonably-priced buffet for supper, which we tried once and enjoyed very much. There is also a walking street with various small shops and eateries just behind the hotel.
Overall, the Tirena provides excellent quality and service for the price and level of the hotel. We enjoyed our stay both times.
