Great location but wouldn't recommend

Posted Aug 5, 2014 on Hotels.com
The place looks quite different from pictures, it's quite run down. It's a great location, close to the main part of Cavtat and transport to Dubrovnik. I know accommodation in the area can be quite expensive, I've paid have as much for much better in other parts of Europe, so if you are looking for somewhere alright to sleep and aren't too fussed it's ok. The lady running the place is lovely but I only saw her on the first and last day, I went looking for her to turn on our bar fridge but was told she has another job during the day by another guest who turned the fridge on for us. In 5 days our room was never cleaned. On the second last day we got some fresh towels that was it. Their was no toilet paper in the toilet and we had to buy our own, the pictures imply access to kitchen and laundry facilities there is none, the wifi does not work in rooms only outside on the staircase leading up to the rooms. I was out and about most of the time so if that what you'll be doing it's an ok place to stay. If your having a loungey relaxing holiday where you want comfort, or even your room cleaned daily. Give it a miss,

A shorter walk than other more expensive hotels, Value for Money

Posted Aug 15, 2011
Villa Karacic is at the end of a cul-de-sac in the lower part of Cavtat. You can take a short cut through the Iberostar hotel. The apartments do have lots of steps but the owners and daughter are very friendly. Mum speaks limited English but the daughter is fluent. These apartments are half the price of others featured but believe me are a much easier walk. Many of the more expensive you need to be prepared to be a mountain goat to return to up hair pin bends traversed by buses , coaches and motorbikes as there is no pavement. The apartments have a view of the mountains and cypress trees. It is on the direct flightpath into Cilipi , Dubrovnik airport which we didn't mind and starts at 6am and final flight is about 11pm. If you want sun, somewhere to sleep that is safe then these apartments are fine. One other strange thing is that you have to share a kettle, and firdge with 2/3 other rooms and they could really do to purchase kettles and cups and saucers for every room. Note payment is on the last day and is in cash Kuna so be prepared for this.Despite this we had a lovely holiday, Cavtat is lovely nearest beach is at the Iberostar complex of hotels. Take a trip to Dubrovnik by boat and try the super black ice cream when you get off in Dubrovnik its very! nice. Other trips Lokrum by boat from Cavtat are excellent and the "Dead Sea" plus you must take the cable car in Dubrovnik and visit the Museum to the Balkan War of the 90's a sobering experience.
