Fall color extravaganza!!! Great place to go!Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: I love architecturally beautiful houses. This is about the 20th different B & B we have stayed in over five different States. I love the history.
Cons: I would have liked one more easy chair to sit in, as both my wife and I enjoy reading before bedtime.
Location: The location was great for us because we wanted to travel up the river to enjoy Fall colors.
I liked the friendliness of the owners and staff. The breakfast was incredible.

Call before you goPosted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: It is very beautiful and the owner is fantastic. There is a kitchen that you can use to cook or bake or anything really
Cons: More areas in the garden to sit and relax. The hot tub wasn't working when we were there.
Location: Not much to do in town. State parks in the area and Dubuque is just 30 minutes away. Pack hiking gear for the parks.
Do call before your stay. The owner puts up all sorts of fun entertainment. The room was comfortable and very pretty. The breakfasts were to die for. We loved the place! Just be aware there is nothing going on in the town - we traveled to Dubuque. The owner is very knowledgeable about the house and the area. We visited a few places she recommend and it was great.

Very peaceful and relaxing experience. The owner cooked a gourmet breakfast that was 5 star all the way. We will return for one of the Murder Mystery Dinners very soon.

Memorable experiencePosted Aug 27, 2012 on Hotels.com
Mont Rest was a very significant experience for my girlfriend and I. We were looking for a refuge from the crazyness of downtown Chicago and Mont Rest fit the mold perfectly. The place has a homee feel with its comunal dining table, freshly baked cookies and, we learned, famous murder-mistery dinners. The innkeeper/owner has a fascinating life-history that you should try to learn about. What we enjoyed the most was the outstanding cooked-from-scratch breakfast and the absolutely charming sun room where we sat for hours one day just to read and enjoy the peace and quite. Surrounded by hilly crop-fields, with a dominant view of the Mississipi river and a convenient distance from Galena its a place to relax and recharge.

this was our first stay at a B & B and loved it. The food was great and the company too. Our "hostess" was very accommodating and friendly. We would stay at Mont Rest again!

Friendly staff and ownerPosted Dec 20, 2011 on Hotels.com
We've stayed at many bed and breakfast establishments on our anniversaries, but this one had it all...a fireplace, a tub for two, and very friendly staff. The owner joined us for breakfast on our last day and share stories about the inn and her life. We were very pleased to have come and stayed in this home!
