Outdated and rundown.

Posted Oct 28, 2013
Pros: The view is beautiful. The hotel sits at the top of a bluff, and looks out over the river.
Cons: Paint, carpet, new linens, and a great housekeeping crew would do wonders.
The hotel is outdated and rundown, and really needs a major renovation. The floors in the lobby and stairwells were filthy. The carpet on the steps, hallways and our room was incredibly old, and had not been vacuumed, or had not been vacuumed well. The stairs were vacuumed in the afternoon of the second day of our stay, but the tile in the landing still had not been mopped, and was visibly dirty.. The staff was nice, but they were not particularly out-going or friendly. We felt that we could have gone to a national chain hotel that would have been cleaner, and most likely for the same price if not cheaper. The bed was a bit sunk in the middle, and what were supposed to be queen sized beds were most definitely full sized.

Hotel has gone downhill

Posted Oct 14, 2013
Pros: Availability and good price
Cons: Needs to be modernized
I have stayed at Timmerman's many times over the years, but conditions seem to be going downhill. The bathroom was not clean and the tile and tub needed new grout. There's music playing in the breakfast area while the TV is on with the strong smell of chlorine throughout the lobby - all added up to a big headache.

Timmermans Hotel & Resort

Posted Sep 3, 2013
Cons: Brighten the place up, it was a bit dull.
Location: Great views from the restaurant at the other end of the parking lot. A good stop on the Great River Road route.
The name is misleading, it doesn't feel like a resort. There was construction going on while we were there so I'm sure the hotel will improve in the future. Got woken up at 2AM by some people playing soccer in the parking lot. Great views from the restaurant at the other end of the parking lot.

my stay

Posted Aug 12, 2013
Pros: nothing
Cons: call in a cleaning crew and do a bunch of updates.
Location: things to do and location are great just don't stay there
I have never been to a motel as bad as this one. All I can say is dirty-dirty everything there looked dirty.

Close to city of Dubuque, Iowa and Galena, ILL.

Pros: We were met by a friendly, helpful staff. The room was good sized with a comfortable bed. A large parking lot and was quiet.
Cons: The bathroom was a little small, but big enough for the "work" to be done:) The entrance to Timmerman Place is hard to get to from the highway.
Location: Good locatiion across bridge from Dubuque Iowa. Beautiflul parks, Lock #11, River Museum, Casino, shopping, river cruises, & antique shops in Galena
We stayed for two nights and were happy with what we found. The friendly staff answered my questions about the surrounding area. A little hard to get unto Timmerman Place from #20 east, but worth it. It is a highway problem, not the Hotels. We were very satisfied.
