Hilton dusseldorf

Went for the football (Germany v Scotland) based ourselves in dusseldorf Hilton. Spent some time in the bar, excellent staff and facilities. Very enjoyable stay! Would go back.

Good location near transport system

Pros: Everything, Margaret particularly liked the pillows
Cons: Parking rates are expensive

Really enjoyed our time in Dusseldorf but hotel was perhaps the only slight let down. I must say I am being picky with these comments and broadly speaking I would recommend the Hilton. But given the brands reputation I had hoped for more. 1. Staff were not as polite and readily available as I would have liked. 2. We had a 3 bed room which wasn't ready on our arrival (this was later rectified). 3. Bar prices were very expensive. 4. Lack of free wifi in rooms is disappointing these days. As a note it costs about €15 to taxi into the old town.

Pros: Leaving
Cons: Small details as pointed out above.
Location: In the middle of business area, mostly offices so dont go here for the night life.
Mini bar, no bottle opener, kettle, but no coffee after you drink the sachet on the first night.

Not a Five Star ...

Pros: Price - booked as a surprise package and therefore acceptable
Cons: Price for parking may be acceptable during a busy week but not on the weekend
Location: Nothing which could be done in the direct vicinity of the hotel - public or private transport necessary for everything.
Overall an o.k. experience but the size of the room and especially the bathroom were clearly not equivalent to a Five Star Hotel. Location isolated and only acceptable with a car available, prices for overnight parking from Saturday to Sunday ridiculous (EUR 25). So a mixed experience with no highlights.
