Look Elsewhere- not worth the price

Posted Jun 4, 2014
Pros: It was clean. That's the only good thing I can say.
Cons: pillows, customer service, room temperature, street noise
Location: Close shopping district and old town but very loud location.
New pillows. They were flat, lumpy and terrible. When I asked for a second pillow I was laughed at and asked if there was not a pillow already in your room!!! I had to ask the rude front desk employee 4 times for a second pillow! It took 2 days to get a pillow!!! Seriously?!?! Someone soundproof the windows, please. The room was warm so we had to sleep with the window open. Normally that's not be a problem. However, excessive road noise and constant horn-honking through all hours of the night made sleep impossible. I stayed for 3 sleepless nights. Needless to say, this portion of my vacation was not relaxing. I won't be back. Warning: Dusseldorf drivers needlessly and incessantly honk at each other. It sounds like Manhattan.

Friendly, simple but comfortable, great location

Posted Jun 3, 2014
Pros: Location, breakfast buffet, comfort and cleanliness, friendly staff, price
Cons: Computer/internet access for guests without wifi.
Location: Abundant number of restaurants surround the hotel. Quick walking distance to the shopping street and the multitude of restaurants and bars in the old
Small but very clean and comfortable rooms with a super friendly staff. My room faced the main street, but with the windows closed I barely could hear the traffic; and no noise from other rooms. Nicely located between the central train station and the river front/old town area - both easy walking distance. Also a little more than a block to the U-Bahn, including those to the Trade Fair complex. Excellent breakfast buffet with a wide variety of options. Super old style German restaurant maybe 200 yards away. Also, a wide mix of oriental food as that seems to be the nature of the neighborhood. WiFi available, but no computer for use by the guests. All in all, excellent value.

Pros: We liked our room, staff working there and those really filling breakfasts served every morning.
Selected this particular hotel because of convenient location and reasonable price. We were not disappointed! We liked the room, staff working there and really filling breakfasts served every morning. Everything else was just as good as expected.

Monopol Hotel

Pros: breakfast . Good location . Not far from main railway station , which has direct line to airport. and 20 mins walk to Aldstat on main roads.
Cons: room air conditioning and more english language channels such as Eurosport and BBC1
Single room was fine (size OK, good shower, bed comfortable) except no air conditioning. So when I opened the window I got traffic noise as I fronted onto the road . There was a fan in the wardrobe which helped . There is only one english langauage channel - CNN. The breakfast was good with a huge range of items. Lift does not go to every floor . You have one flight of stairs to each floor

Nice Staff, decent price, ok room

Posted Jul 29, 2013
Pros: service and breakfast
Cons: cleaniness of room and hotel - could be of better standard
Location: close to central station
Hotel was ok for what it was. 28 year old travelling alone and needed a hotel for the night because I had an early flight out the next day. I was using Dusseldorf as a hub for a flight in and out. Single room was small, bathroom was ok, but the room wasn't as clean as I would have liked. I haved stayed in budget hotels like Holday Inn Express and Comfort Inn and their rooms basic, nice, and clean. I wouldn't say not to stay here but I would recommend looking else where for the same price. 15 min walk to old town, 5 -10 min walk to central station (great for aiport around 3 euros). Nice European breakfast including scrambled eggs, hash browns, and bacon. Staff was extremely nice and helpful!!
