I thought queen beds were bigger

Posted Mar 16, 2014
Pros: The pool was nice. The breakfast was great!
Cons: The pillows were not very comfortable, but the blankets were nice.
Location: perkins is close and Black Bear
It was okay for a one night stay. The beds seemed a bit small for queen sized. they seemed more like a double or full sized bed. The best part was the breakfast. Really good eggs, bacon and coffee.

Good Quality for the price

Posted Dec 2, 2013
Pros: I like that it was a good distance away from the crazy Black Friday Shopping and yet perfect driving distance to Spirit Mountain. No Traffic Delays!
Cons: A little more attention to the little things with regards to cleaning
Everything about this hotel was very good - the room was perfect for what we were looking for; a place to sleep and relax. The staff were helpful, courteous and cheery. The continental breakfast was better than a lot of places we have stayed - the food was hot and plenty of it, the coffee was excellent! There were a few steps missed in the cleaning but nothing that would deter us from staying there again. I would recommend this hotel and will definitely being staying there again. It was perfect for attending the SnoCross and doing a little shopping.

Decent hotel--clean, convenient, good location.

Posted Aug 19, 2013
Pros: Clean, good location, helpful staff, quiet.
Cons: The air conditioning is very noisy and continually off and on. Our beds were hard & uneven. We like the sink not open to the beds.
Location: We were there for only two nights, for a wedding. There were excellent restaurants ^ places to get what we needed.
Staff was great, very clean. Beds not the best, air conditioning annoying. Looks very good for families or groups with kids.

Very nice, clean quiet hotel.

Posted Jul 28, 2013
Pros: Very clean and quiet with friendly staff. Affordable rates, good breakfast.
Cons: A little more variety for breakfast, I guess, but it's a minor quibble. We were very happy here, and would definitely stay again.
Location: We stayed here as a cheaper alternative to staying in Duluth. We were in the Duluth area for vacation and the Tall Ships festival.
Due to the Tall Ships festival in Duluth, we couldn't find anything affordable in the city itself, but this was a very nice hotel just a 20 minute drive away. A very affordable, clean, quiet hotel with very friendly staff and a pretty good breakfast buffet. My son enjoyed the pool, although it's a bit on the small side, it was like the rest of the hotel - very clean, and quiet. The hot tub was nice (but also very small) but great for relaxing. Overall, we couldn't have been happier.

Whirlpool Suite

Posted Jul 28, 2013
Pros: The price was right, Staff was helpful
Cons: Carpet needs to be cleaned / replaced in whirlpool suite
Location: Convenient location
Carpet smelled musty, Carpet was ragged by bathroom entrance, waffles tasted bland, peculiar after taste

concert trip

Pros: see above
Cons: see above

stayed at this facility to attend a performance at Black Bear casino. Very easy and short distance between hotel and casino. room was nice, however, don't think it was vacuumed well between occupants. Found 2 aspirin under edge of bed and a button on the floor, otherwise was ok. No kleenex in room, or any place for a box to be. Hmmmmm, that was a first. Breakfast was good, staff friendly, easy to find.

Close to stores

Posted Jul 1, 2013
Pros: Close to stores
Cons: Cleaning inside and curb appeal (weeding, painting...)
The bad part was the stains on the bedding, dirty carpet and small bathroom. The good part was the staff, ease to getting to grocery/Perkins, and the bigger tv. Not worth amount i paid but not terrible.

We need an emergency hotel near Duluth, MN

Posted Jun 17, 2013
Pros: Location was not too far off the freeway and near restaurants and shopping for any needs.
Cons: No elevator in hotel was a surprise.
Location: Hotel located within walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, and short driving distances to other places.
Due to issues with camper, we needed to find some last minute lodging near Duluth, MN. Picked this hotel for the price and it served the purpose for what we needed. However, was a bit surprised to find there was no elevator, which made our 2nd floor room a little less appealing. Room was good enough for what we expected. Pool, whirlpool, and sauna were adequate and a nice addition. We were told upon check-in that our room key would get us 10% off at nearby Perkins or Applebees, however we had eaten before checking in at the hotel. Continental breakfast served until 10 AM and had a nice selection (make-your-own waffles, cereal, juice, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, toast, bagels, donuts, muffins, and some hot bacon and egg item). Overall good value if you aren't expecting anything special.

Great, with one tiny suggestion.

Posted May 20, 2013
Pros: Clean, great pool, sauna.
Everything was awesome, especially the hotel staff. Just one small thing: It is really hard to eat a waffle with the plastic-ware provided. Maybe get something a little sturdier :)
