“Snow much fun!”
Nice place to stay and was close to the snowmobile races! Quiet place to stay.
“Not worthy of the name or the price”
Poorly maintained; obvious repair issues
“Not Impressed”
We traveled with our 3 1/2 yo and 5 yo and we enjoyed the pool on the 8th floor very much. The hotel seemed dirty and very outdated. The fridge was coming apart and the bathroom/tub was very small and confining. I'm very glad that we had only planned to stay one night. We will not stay here again.
“eh...”
it was definitely a bit TOO family-friendly in my opinion. there were 2 pools, but only 1 with a hot tub (the one not on our floor, of course), and it was overcrowded with screaming children. The pool on our floor was super quiet, but not much use since we were looking forward to the hot tub after a long day of physical activity. Not ideal. Also, the "waterfront" in the name was misleading. We could see the water from a few blocks away, but couldn't find a way past the giant highway between us to get to the lake. Oh well.
“This place is a dump!”
The quality was extremely low for the price. Front desk service was non-existent. Rooms need a deep cleaning or complete overhaul. Pool area was nice and cleaning service was friendly. However, we would never stay there again!
“Solid”
Clean room, responsive room service. Everything to meet the basics. Exceptionally thick towels and comfy beds. The main restaurant, Porter's, locks up by two in the afternoon and the remaining businesses in this complex follow suit shortly thereafter. By 630 PM, all that remains open is the Sneakers Bar & Grill, the workhorse of the quick food fix, delivered to your room. Best breakfast fix for the price is the Greenery. Front desk service was substandard at best. I waited five minutes to check in as three reps were busy dealing with what appeared to be a customer issue on the phone and the fourth rep was working hard to pick up the slack with check-ins. A second stop at the desk to pick up paperwork that had been delivered for me became awkward when the desk rep demanded a photo ID with the attitude of a prison guard, but accepted my room key as proof of ID. And this after I described in detail the paperwork. The location is central to the Duluth tourist trades and walking distance to the lake. While some of the decor is dated, it is still a clean, comfortable and safe place to stay.
“It was okay. Don't plan on returning.”
The pool was closed and the room was cramped. The employees were very nice.
“not on the waterfront”
The room was a bit humid due to the pool being in the center of the building, and the rooms surrounding. No other option. Luckily, the pool closed at 10:30pm, so there was not that noise to deal with. Breakfast was NOT included, but the first floor offered a convenient restaurant. The hotel was NOT a waterfront location, but was across the highway from Canal Park. Staff was helpful, and cordial.
“Poor Access to Hotel, But Room Was Great”
Downtown Duluth is not the easiest place to navagate. Too many one way streets, and unsavory pedestrians. The hotel room was wonderful - clean and comfortable, however GETTING to your room was a chore. The parking lot is confusing leading to backups from people not understanding which way to drive, or where to park to unload. The doorways are way too small both entering the hotel, and gettingin to the elevators to accomodate people hauling suitcases, and the elevators were a daily waiting game. Room service was prompt and friendly, and the staff was helpful. All in all I see an old hotel in a downtown area - there are some things they could update, but some of the negatives are somwhat out of thier control. If the training or seminar you are attending is IN THE HOTEL, a lot of the negatives would be mediated by not needing to leave the hotel daily.
“OK but nothing spectacular”
This hotel was nothing above ordinary. We slept comfortably and the air conditioning worked well. The room was inadequately supplied. There were three of us in the room and not enough towels to go around. There was enough coffee for one of us to have one cup. For the service and accommodations provided, it was an overpriced stay. Even though I am recommending this property to others, don't expect to be wowed; if I were to go back, I would check out other properties first.
