“Weekend away”
My daughter and I enjoyed our weekend at this hotel. We were amazed at the downtown skywalk that is connected and were able to enjoy many things without having to go into the frigid cold. Everyone was friendly and the beds were VERY comfortable! The only negative thing we have to say is that someone should be monitoring the pool/hot tub area. There were about 20-25 teens in the hot tub and it was frustrating not to be able to relax when we went down there. Otherwise, when we go to Duluth again--this is where we'll stay.
“great for a getaway”
Nice hotel, conveniently located downtown. Easy walk to the DECC and the aquarium. The staff were friendly and had helpful suggestions for where to eat and places to see. Perhaps a bit more expensive than I would have liked, but since it was a last-minute trip I can't complain much. We would definitely stay here again.
“Adequate”
The hotel itself is an older building. The elevators are extremely slow. We stayed on the 10th floor and the views of the harbor were quite nice from our window. The location is nice, right in the middle of downtown. The room was clean and comfortable.
“We liked it...”
This hotel's location fit the bill for our weekend plans (reunion@downtown restaurant & visit to canal park). The hotel/room was clean and comfortable. Being on the lobby floor where the kiddie pool was located was very handy! When we weren't swimming, our son enjoyed watching the swimmers from our window (didn't open), which looked out onto the pool area. It had a very nice large pool, kiddie pool & arcade. It didn't have a whirlpool on that level though. Bummer for the parents! A few of things in the room left us wanting: there seemed to be very little lighting. (Entry light, bathroom light, vanity light, table light, bedside light...seems adequate, but the room had a very dim feeling to it.) Also, there weren't a lot of plug-ins. In order to plug in our laptop, (didn't want to waste batt life) we had to unplug either the tv or the lamp next to it (making the room even dimmer!). We could've plugged it in by the sink or the bedside table, but it wasn't convenient to work in those places. One last thing: there wasn't a microwave. Having a finicky 2 yr old, multiple meals are just a part of life. A mic would've been handy to warm up leftovers...which we had in the fridge they provided. :) A WORD TO THE WISE: Don't wander (or let your kids wander) around the holiday mall in the evenings. We got carry-out dinner from Sneakers (about 9:30) and my hubby was going to send me down by myself to pick it up...we're glad we didn't! It was just a little iffy...
“not on the waterfront”
The room was a bit humid due to the pool being in the center of the building, and the rooms surrounding. No other option. Luckily, the pool closed at 10:30pm, so there was not that noise to deal with. Breakfast was NOT included, but the first floor offered a convenient restaurant. The hotel was NOT a waterfront location, but was across the highway from Canal Park. Staff was helpful, and cordial.
“As good as expected”
Had not been back to this hotel in a number of years. High quality service and good employees. Did have a light bulb burned out which I had to point out. And the temp in the room was a challenge to adjust. Overall a very good stay.
“Just as good the seconed time around”
A nice place to go for a nice get away.
“good experience”
Overall it was a good experience. The 2 pools are a little smaller than the pictures led on. The room was clean and the check in staff was friendly. The kids free breakfast was pretty small portions and limited in choices for kids randing from 9 to 12.
“Elevator issues”
Large groups of high school age kids in hotel. Problems with elevators, 3 available only 1 in use, caused long waits to move between floors.
“older hotel”
Hotel needs updating getting old. Bathrooms are getting to need the updating.
