Spectacular looking hotel at a bargain pricePosted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: The service, food and grand public rooms
Cons: The large room next to the bar seemed a bit soulless
Location: Excellent location for touring Scotland. Little way out from centre of Dunblane, but why would you want to leave this lovely, big hotel?!
Staff were excellent throughout the hotel - friendly and helpful. We went for the dinner, B&B option and it was well worth the money. Food and service in the dining room were very good given how busy the place was. Added to this we had use of the leisure centre as well. The grandeur of the public rooms gives this hotel a special feel, although rooms in the annex are rather functional.

Simply the BestPosted Aug 31, 2014
What a splendid vision of the hotel as you enter the long driveway to the front of the hotel. The grandiose stairway to Reception was so impressive, welcoming you to a customer service ethos, second to none. The room was very comfortable, clean and modern. The food was excellent and to be expected in light of the reputation of the head chef. We used the swimming pool and steam room in our special offer overnight stay with great joy and satisfaction. One last look back as we drive down the driveway fixed the memory of a wonderful experience in my mind for a long time. Well worth the cost.

OK hotel and lovely staffPosted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: The staff and the architecture
Cons: The internet connection and wifi availability. Also - put Arbroath Smokies on the breakfast menu!
Location: Lovely and pretty location.
The hotel is OK. My main problem was that the wifi connectivity was dreadful and the internet kept dropping. I often travel for business, and this problem would mean I couldn't work - as a consequence, I wouldn't stay here if it was a business trip. Plus all sorts of funny passwords to connect in certain areas of the hotel only etc.. - they seemed to be overly worried about people robbing their internet. However, for just a holiday visit it's fine. The breakfast was a buffet and they charged me extra for an expresso - which I didn't think was fair. Food was standard breakfast - bacon, sausage, fried eggs etc.. I was looking forward to having an Arbroath Smokie and was surprised it wasn't available for breakfast. The hotel bar was somewhat restrictive in choice of cocktails - if it wasn't on the menu, they wouldn't make it. The staff were lovely - very friendly, helpful and happy and more than made up for the very minor issues I had. I would certainly stay here again if I was I tourist - for business, the bad internet means I couldn't stay here.

Looks impressive, service poorPosted Aug 7, 2014
Restaurant staff are superb, other staff mixed - some are excellent, some pretty dire For a business traveller, being able to see a room service menu, get laundry done quickly, obtain more laundry bags, get a consistent wifi signal, get prompt access to the gym in the morning, and get prompt help from reception when needed are important- these are lacking in this hotel. May not be so important to holiday travellers in which case hotel may be more suitable

Lovely hotel and settingPosted Aug 1, 2014
Pros: Separate sitting rooms and hotel decorated well
Cons: Needs air-conditioning. I know it's not normally required in Scotland, but the room had direct sunlight coming and was still warm through the night.
Location: Dunblane a very nice town and Stirling is nearby
Very nice, but the hotel needs air-conditioning. I know it's not normally required in Scotland, but the room had direct sunlight coming and was still warm through the night. Heatwave during the Commonwealth Games.

Extortionately expensive, everything's extraPosted Jul 31, 2014
Pros: The swimming pool.
Location: Quiet place, not much to do, some good cafes.
Most disappointing. Extortionately expensive, everything's an extra expense on top of room rate. Most good hotels these days offer free Wi-Fi, this one doesn't. Breakfast was also extra so for our 5-yr old son who ate 1 sausage and was charged twenty-one quid for the privilege. Generally a rip-off and staff couldn't care less.

Taxi problemsPosted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Very comfortable and terrific views
Cons: Assistance in reception to get a taxi and if none available perhaps they could arrange for someone to run people to the station.
Lovely hotel, but did find a dirty tissue behind pillow on bed - not too pleased about this but did not complain as did not want to get staff in trouble and the rest of room was very clean. Hotel itself is lovely and the buffet breakfast was one of the best I have ever had - everything was hot and very tasty. The evening meal would have been very good except the starter of duck salad was far too salty to eat - did tell waiter who apologised and immediately took the plate away and offered an alternative starter. This was the pate which was delicious. Over all a very good break just remember if you need a taxi to book it well in advance otherwise you will not get one - we had to ask a guest to run us to the station as it is too far to walk to and certainly not for a disabled person to doJ!!

Would recommend and definitely go back.Posted Jul 14, 2014
Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and polite. Breakfast was good had a good selection. Evening meal wasn't very good and lots of supplements to pay. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. Only real negative for us was spa facilities separate from hotel and it felt more like a leisure centre.
