Pros: Lovely home, clean, comfortable and a good location.
Location: Close walk to the city.
Friendly and lovely staff. The room was so homely. Staff has already had the heater going to warm up the room as it was a very cold morning. Surroundings were lovely and quiet. Simply beautiful.

Lovely B&B in a good location

Posted May 16, 2014
Pros: Comfortable, clean and friendly.
This beautiful old building is located on a hillside a short walking distance to the centre of Dunedin. The staff were friendly and helpful. It has a lovely feel to it which was for me helped by the presence of their two cats, one of which is very friendly and not fussy about who's lap he is sitting on. It was a welcome feeling of home after two months of travelling.

Location is very good for city tourism.

Pros: Location mostly, but the room and breakfast were fine with their quirks.
Our introduction to the B&B was a bit disconcerting. We didn't know where to park, so my husband went to the door to ask about parking and the girl who answered acted like she didn't know what we were asking so we figured she was a guest answering the door. Turns out she worked there! We got our answer - the parking is behind the house down a very steep hill, but off the street and free, which is helpful as all street parking costs. Our room was nice enough. We had the Africa room. The only issues I had were with the sheets and the bathroom drainage. The sheets were very thin, but fortunately didn't tear and did the job. I love the undersheet heating pad! That really helped keep me warm throughout the night. The drainage in the bathroom was noisy. When you used the sink, the bathtub drain would glug for awhile after you had stopped using the sink. Both of these things I mentioned to the owners via their survey so they will probably deal with them soon enough. They owners were very helpful in providing a map of the city with the location of the B&B identified. They also provide a very nice breakfast room always available to guests. The breakfast was ample as you could eat what you wanted from the continental offerings. The food was good though the room was really chilly. I wore a coat to breakfast as the little space heater they have in there didn't contribute much heat. We were there in April.

Funky. Close to Octagon.

Friendly staff. Nice breakfast included. Quiet. Steep driveway to get to free parking. Navigable, but nerve-wracking.

What a dump.

The TV worked intermittently. I could not lock my door from the inside. Their internet was terrible, and I did not have my own bathroom. I would not stay there again if they paid me.

Hotel was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Location was great - less than five minutes walk to the Octagon, although probably a bit more than that walking back up the hill. Very sweet friendly cats as well. Would happily stay here again!

Charm and Character in Central Dunedin

Posted Aug 8, 2013
A charming clean comfortable bed and breakfast with early 20th century character . It's central and walking distance down steep "View Street" to main shops, the Octogon and museums. As a cat lover I was enamoured of the resident felines " Solstice" and "Jimmy"
