The best aspect of Hotel Cavour was the location and view from my room. It's situated perfectly in between the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio. Walk out the door, turn left, walk 5 minutes and you're at the Duomo. 5 minutes in the other direction and you're at the Arno river. I was traveling by my self and felt entirely safe - even at night. Right next door is the Yellow Bar Restaurant. I ate their three times in two days. Delicious pastas and pizzas at a very reasonable price. Less than $10 for most choices. The hotel was average in terms of cleanliness and overall upkeep. I found the staff to be helpful, although not overly friendly. The noise level was very high at night due to the church bells and pedestrian/auto noise below. Bring some good silicone earplugs and you'll be fine.

If you want to take in Florence's sights and not be a distance from them then this hotel is great! Practically next to the Duomo, very central location -very clean boutique hotel! Continental breakfast served 7-10am which was pleasant, plenty of restaurants nearby for evening! Only thing about being next to Duomo is the 7am wake-up when the bells start ringing!

We were warmly greeted by the friendly reception staff who were polite and helpful when we needed them. This hotel is a stone throw from the town centre and La Santa Maria Del Fiore cathedral. Lovely restaurants in the vicinity and train station and shops nearby also. My girlfriend liked the decor in the hotel. Would recommend it.

The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, or Duomo for short, is one of Italy’s largest churches, and tops the list of places to visit in Florence. The impressive Gothic architecture features an ornate exterior, stained glass windows, and a cavernous interior. Two popes are buried here, and three of the buildings are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
