Lovely little boutique hotel.

I was staying at The Normandy Hotel for quite some time while in DC for research, and I had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were incredibly sweet, and I felt at much at home as possible while in a city I don't enjoy very much. My room was cute and comfortable. The lounge areas downstairs were welcoming and I enjoyed sitting and working here at one of the many cozy little spots. The design was tasteful, and the hotel has a personal feel that stands out in contrast to the ubiquitous hotel chain monstrosities. The location was perfect for grabbing the metro each day.

A jewel off the beaten path

Pros: The wonderful staff and lovely rooms
Cons: Since there is no restaurant on site, it would be great if they had a suggestion list and menus available
Location: Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan are just a few blocks walk and an easy long walk to the the White House, Monuments and museums. Great spot!
I call this my home away form home when I travel to DC. I plan to return again and again. The staff are delightful and the breakfast and evening wine reception are lovely.

Lovely hotel!

Pros: Loved the Nespresso machine (once I figured out how to work it) and the mini fridge was especially nice to have.
Cons: The room was really cold and we had a hard time keeping it warm when we did turn up the heat. The fan kept shutting off.
Location: Within a residential neighbourhood so it was quiet. Within a few blocks of restaurants and the metro.
This hotel is in a great location. We walked everywhere. The staff was outstanding. So helpful.

Convenient hotel with potential

Posted Feb 20, 2015
I stayed two nights at this hotel and was initially quite optimistic about the service. The check in was easy and pleasant, the room was very nice (and included a nespresso machine) and there is a daily wine and cheese 'social' in the tiny dining area. Overall it was clean and well-maintained. However, after my first night, no one came to make up the room. I called the front desk twice to address it, and while both times the staff were sympathetic, there was almost no effort to rectify the situation. Apparently, by the time I called housekeeping had already left for the day. I can understand that perhaps cleaning the room wasn't possible, but I would have at least expected some effort on the management's part to address the situation since the last I checked, daily cleaning is included when you stay in a hotel. A small but obvious gesture like providing a complimentary breakfast the next day (it's really only a token, as it's $12 for a continental spread) would have been appreciated but was not offered. Overall, while I think this hotel has potential, I was really disappointed with the service.

European Hotel in an Embassy neighborhood

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: Atmosphere, friendly staff, nice rooms.
Cons: Continental breakfast should be $12.50 per room, not per person. Coffee machine didn't work well.
Location: Fabulous French restaurant en route to Metro: "Le Bistro du Coin". Not cheap, but terrific dishes and flavors, traditional French food and feel.
Room was small but comfortable; at $99/ we thought the price was just right. We were first sent to another room with just a single small window; we called the desk and they set us up with another nearby room with two (small) windows, so we were very happy. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Parking in their garage was $40/night, so we parked on the street, which was OK. Breakfast was Continental, but $12.50 per person, which we thought should be per room. 12 minute walk to the Metro at DuPont Circle; convenient. We enjoyed the wine & cheese hour from 5-7pm. We'll definitely return here next time, and recommend it to travelers.
