“Excellent Holiday”
Quality Accomodation with great facilities. Very friendly staff. Beautiful part of Colorado. Booked an extra night because we liked it so much. Would definitely go back
“Great in the winter, amazing in fall”
I've been here in both the winter as the fall. In the winter it's conveniently located close to the great slopes. In the fall (October!) it's a plus that it's located up on the mountain. Why? Well.. because you have to drive down to Durango and the drive is absolutely breathtaking. Unless you hate the colors of the fall. It's a little expensive for the fall, though. There were not a lot of people there so it was a little like we had the place to ourselves. Also it's clearly meant for skiers, but that's hardly an issue. Still.. makes you wonder if more people would've been there if it was a little cheaper. Anyway.. had a great time there. Good Colorado time!
“Beautiful location - to bad the staff was not professional”
The room was very affordable (off season) and a fair price for a 3 star room. They gave us an address 20 miles away and then horrible directions. Very frustrating and poor. At checkout they took our keys and then told us where to go for breakfast (which needed the keys). Then they gave us a hassle for not knowing that and even asked if we were a guest.
“Wonderful accomodations -- way too far from Durango!!”
This hotel has a "DURANGO, COLORADO" address, which makes you believe it is in or very near to Durango, which is WHERE we wanted to stay. WRONG !!! This was very misleading since most people are coming to Durango to ride the train. It should be identified as a ski destination and listed as 27 miles from Durango.
“Very Nice”
We loved our stay at Cascade Village. Our room was clean and nice. The bed was comfortable. It was great to have a full kitchen stocked with dishes, pots and pans, toaster, coffee maker etc. We had a great time at the pool too. I wish we could have stayed longer. We are looking forward to staying there again. The only down side to the whole stay is that we arrived when it was dark and we couldn't find the room right away.
“A few issues, but definitely will go back”
We were happy with Cascade Village. Our family enjoyed the pool, hot tub and just the overall beautiful scenery. However, there were a few minor problems. On the first day, the master bath shower would not drain. The maintenance person quickly repaired it. Also, on one of the days there was a problem with the key card reader on our door not working. It was also repaired quickly and we were able to return to our room. The hotel personnel were very nice and helpful. Although this is an older hotel, our family would not hesitate to go back!!!
“In the woods - save the wildlife.”
The hotel is a good choice for who wants to ski. That was not our case (we were on our way to Colorado Springs) and frankly I did not know the hotel was in the woods otherwise I would not have booked it. The decoration was appalling - bear and other wild animals skins hanged on the wall - fake or not it's bad taste. Isn't Colorado proud of its wildlife? So, why hang trophies on the wall? Purely bad taste. I have 3 children (ages 9, 7 and 4)and even them were disgusted. Not recommended to animal advocates and activists.
“Can't wait to go back!”
EXCELLENT!
“San Juan Mountain Getaway”
Great value for the price at least for non-ski season. Amenities other than the great room (with loft!) are few and far between. You are 30 minutes from Durango, and 25 minutes from the nearest full service grocery store. I would suggest to stop in Durango at City Market or Trimble Hot Springs at PJs to stock up on supplies on your way up to save a 1 hour round trip. Room (if you can call it that - it's a full on condo) includes a full service kitchen, so you can cook whatever you feel like! Wood burning fireplace and covered deck a nice touch. Only negatives other than lack of local amenities were proximity to US Hwy 550 allowed for significant road noise despite the trees screening the road, and the twin bed(s) in lower bedroom could use an upgrade to pillowtop fulls! Recommended!
“Cascade Village-Purgatory”
We stayed in this property traveling from Durango to Telluride for only one night. For this it was perect. However, the hotel is app. 30 mins from Durango, which means 30 mins from groceries, gas, dining, etc, if you don't mind the drive. It would be a good place to stay if skiing at Purgatory since it's 5 minutes away. The building we stayed in was being prepped for paint, the ones recently painted looked good. Unfortunately, our unti backed up to the hoghway, which at times was a little noisy and we were thereinsummer and we had to keep the windows open for air.
