“Wonderful Historic Luxury”

I would highly recommend the staff, the accomodations, the atmosphere and the location and the food! They upgraded us to the honeymoon suite after they found out our wedding day changed and our honeymoon night would be in their hotel. Had a magnificent view of hotel - the concierge and bellboy was most helpful and they made great recommendations on other travel tips as well.

“Strater was Great”

If you stay anywhere else in Durango other than the Strater then it would be a mistake , the Strater is a historic hotel with alot of character . We enjoyed it very much !

“Beautifully renovated hystorical hotel”

The Strater is a beautifully restored hystorical hotel in the heart of downtown Durango. Surronded by unique stores and restaraunts. The staff was excellent: friendly and knowledgable. Happy hour in the bar was plesent. Fantastic breckfast,not the typical breckfast bar. Beautiful setting and beatiful antiques.

“I Love this hotel”

This was my second visit, first New Year's 2009 at that time it was 1 of the most georgous sites with the snow all around what a site to see!! Back again in Aug. 2009 much warmer and we so enjoyed our room, the cont. breakfast and the all around kindness of the people who work at this hotel. Durango is a place I love to visit and this hotel is one of my favorites!! Enjoy your visit and be sure to read other guests comments from the book in each room :)

“History Abounds at the Strater”

My husband and I loved this hotel from the minute we checked in. Hotel is truly a part of Durango's history, with its American Victorian flair-built in the 1800s. When we were shown our room, we knew we had 'hit the jackpot'! Room # 200 is a beautiful 2-bed corner room. Quaint bathroom with nice shower. All modern conveniences. Great friendly and helpful staff, from top to bottom. Ate in both the hotel restaurant and the 'Spiritorium'. Good food and service with medium prices. We have already recommended it to friends and will enjoy another stay ourselves.

“Excellent choice”

The Strater does an excellent job of combining old world elegance with new world convenience. Staying there was a marvelous experience for all of us. The staff, the rooms, the lobby, the continental breakfast, and the restaurant were all first class. I wouldn't change a thing.

“My Favorite Getaway”

If you love to immerse yourself in colorful Colorado history and enjoy a getaway to remember, the Strater Hotel in Durango is a great choice. This is an old hotel, beautifully appointed with antiques and well-maintained. Staff is enthusiastic and very friendly. I came to Durango for two nights, but upon awakening from the first night I realized I wanted to stay longer, and extended my stay for one more day. From the hotel I had plenty to do in downtown Durango and could reach most places by foot. This hotel brings back the charm of the Old West but also, is appointed well and is thoroughly modern. I can't wait to go back!
