“Better than expected.”

I was a little nervous after read other reviews complaining about the location outside of town and it being run down. Well, I did not find it run down at all. In fact it is currently being renovated. There is also a free trolley that takes one to town 3 miles away. I loved the location and view of the mountains. .

“Good experience at Iron Horse Inn”

I stayed there for the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic on Memorial Day weekend 2011. I was quite impressed with the quality of the room, the space, and the comfort. Cleanliness was good except for under the bed. Noise level from outside was nearly nil. Staff was friendly. The availability of catching the shuttlebus to/from downtown was a great added benefit, and it made up for the distance the hotel is to the amenities Durango has to offer. They seemed to have been doing some remodeling to the rooms and landscaping around the pool. Overall I was pleasantly surprised and will plan to stay there again.

“family bike ride”

This hotel is in a nice area just outside of town but not to far away! this hotel is a older hotel the rooms show there age but they are clean and the beds are comfortable! a little over priced but the friendlyness of the staff and manager makes for a pleasent stay!

“durango stay”

Although this is an older facility, it has been kept up really well. The heavy snow this past winter damaged the roof over the pool/spa and it was closed - our grandkids were a little disappointed about that - but over all it was clean and quiet and we would stay there again

“Trolley to the Train”

The distance from downtown Durango was rather more than we expected. At first this did cause us some anxiety. However tbeing the terminus of the Durango Trolley bus direct to and from downtown saved the day. Being free and frequent we could avoid driving in the town. So that pleased us. Breakfast was reasonable and laundry facilities were also available.

“Needs Renovated”

The Hotel Staff is wonderful and very friendly, great location however for the price of the stay the hotel needs to be updated. There is plenty of room, however very old and musty smelling. When you turn on the air conditioner it sounds like your entire room is going to take off. I wondered a little about the sheets, didn't look like they had been changed from the previous guests. I was afraid to sit on the couch it was pretty nasty. Bathrooms moldy.

“Older hotel, but it had a certain charm...”

Our first dealings with the hotel was our meeting with the front desk staff. We felt that we were interrupting their TV program. The young lady went through her spiel so fast it was difficult to understand her and we got the impression that she wanted us out of there ASAP. The room itself was kind of charming with the fireplace and split level.

“Dated”

Not bad for the price and I'm sure this hotel was quite the spot back in the 70's, but it needs some serious maintenance now. The walls are brick and when I was trying to go to sleep a piece of brick literally came out of the wall and hit me in the head. No internet, but does have a game room that my daughter enjoyed.
