“Great Victorian Hotel”
Excellent hotel that has a Victorian touch. This quaint hotel has captured the beauty of the West. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Great location in downtown Durango.

Great service and extremely friendly staff. The fresh cookies every afternoon didn't hurt either. Great location with tons to do in walking distance. We will definitely use the hotel on our next trip to Durang.

Spent one night in July '09, have visited Durango many times before, but never at General Palmer--great Victorian era hotel 1/2 block from narrow gauge railroad depot; we watched train departing from the rooftop terrace, and walked through downtown. Our queen room was darling, fluffy robes, makeup mirror,hairdryer, even breakfast was super. Can't wait to return.

“Nothing General About the Palmer”
The General Palmer was a good hotel in a great location. We enjoyed the location right next to the Silverton Railroad station. (However, about 5:30 pm the noise was a little much from the railroad.) The service was excellent... The decor was appropriate for the early 1900 era. We will stay there again when we go back.

The hotel was very clean and had character. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would stay there again.
“General Palmer - Ambiance +!!”
The hotel itself was immaculate, and the staff was very friendly and very helpful. The elevator was a HOOT!! you'll understand if you go there. The hotel has character coming out the seems, and is a definite stay. The only detractor I have is, as part of the whole early century ambiance, it has the openable windows above the door to the room. Not a security issue, but if you are a person who likes thier room dark while they sleep, the amount of light coming in from the hall lights was uncomfortable. But, a towel over the window fixed that! Great stay, great ambiance and a very comfortable room. Recommended!
