Teddy BearsPosted May 6, 2015
This hotel puts a teddy bear in every room. You don't get to keep them, but it was a charming touch which added to our stay.

Historic, Victorian gem!Posted May 3, 2015
Pros: Location, nice staff, coffee and cookies, clean comfortable beautiful room.
Cons: Eliminate the classical music in the lobby and all the stuffed bears. Remodel the front end opening it up for more people. Upgrade breakfast.
Location: Center of old town Durango! Next to historic narrow gauge train station, many great restaurants, shops, art galleries, trails, the Animas river!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lobby is typical Victorian in decor, reflecting the historical building. Classical music in the lobby is a bit heavy. Main street entry area is divided into two separate areas, one that accommodates no one, the other side accommodates very few. The free breakfast was typical hotel breakfast fare. Coffee in the lobby and freshly baked cookies in the afternoon a real treat! Our room was lovely, clean and newly remodeled. The bed and bedding very comfortable. Downtown Durango is loud at night when people are out and about. I found myself longing for earplugs as the windows did not prevent the noise coming through the glass. An interior room without windows (Which the hotel does have) are probably not a bad thing due to the loud street noise. Overall, a fine experience. this hotel feels like a home!

Good location downtown but need transportation to the lifts which the hotel or shuttle provides. Nice staff. Average breakfast buffet.

Absolutely charming in every wayPosted Dec 15, 2014
Absolutely recommend it. What a pleasant surprise! If it is a little more than other hotels, it is definitely worth it in every way. The staff couldn't be kinder, the rooms more charming and comfortable.....Definitely a delightful experience. Even better--the Starbucks is right across the street.

Nice hotel in the heart of downtown!Posted Dec 14, 2014
Pros: Mostly everything!
Cons: Except thin walls & elevator.
Location: Train, shopping, & eating
Great experience except the elevator is very old & tight. The staff was wonderful! They all went out of their way for us! (Especially Andrew! He wasn't even on the clock one day when he helped us out!)

Everything was exceptional exept the transom in our room was near a hallway light that kept our room like daylight all night. I almost went out to cut a piece of cardboard to fit the transome so I could tape it in place.

Gateway to an earlier time.Posted Oct 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
For those of us who love history, our stay was like going back to the late Victorian era, complete with a steam train outside the door. The antique décor was magnificent, and the atmosphere was very calming.

Classy!Posted Oct 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
Great location and friendly service! Classy decor. Amazing shower head. Mattress too soft, and transoms over door allows too much hallway lighting into room. Excellent breakfast delivered to room. Overall excellent stay!
