ANice property but very poor standards of hygiene.

Booked a " feature room " the Thursday to arrive on Saturday after a 7 hour drive. Told on arrival that the wedding party that was going on had already booked the feature room and we could have an alternative room . Disappointed as the wedding had clearly been booked months if not year in advance. The alternative room was a disabled room without a bath. I had paid extra for this hotel as it had a health suite and the benefit of s bath , I have a slipped disc and a bath / hot tub were ideal after a long drive. We asked to be moved to somewhere else because if this and because the room was pretty much grubby and bland for the £130 paid. We were then taken over to the granary suite, this sounded like a nice gesture and we agreed. Up 2 stone flights if stairs and into a loft conversion with a great feature of the Mill workings in the room . However the finish and cleanliness of the room was terrible. After a 7 hour drive , moving rooms once already we were in no fit state to complain or leave at 11.30pm. The carpets were heavily stained, loads of dead spiders / cobwebs and black mold/ peeled paint around the bath. The state of the room lead us to not want to use the bath or the hot tub / pool in fear of getting ill. I complained the next morning and subsequently have received a refund of £25 from Expedia, but an email from the manager saying that the room was clean, had just been decorated and due to being an old room cobwebs were inevitable. This was the fourth time that I have stayed at this hotel, twice in a standard room and twice in an executive room. The hotel is good but they just let themselves down a little in various areas, something has gone slightly wrong each time I have stayed which is a shame. I suggest that anyone should check their bill carefully before checking out, and ensure that you get the standard of room that you have booked! I will be trying a different hotel the next time I am in the area.

Disappointed to say the least ! check in ok, but then told my room was outside across the courtyard! trying to find the room was not easy, so much so I went back and asked to be put in a room within the main hotel, and got one ? when asked why this was not offered 1st.. I was told it was down to the booking... I wonder if that was meant as I booked it via Experian, rather than direct... to eat I went to the bar across the courtyard.. which honestly was like being served in a Café. stay again... NO

Lovely room with loads of character but no shower

This was the second time that I have stayed here, both visits for 2 nights. The first time I was in a room on the first floor and found it a little noisy, so I requested a quiet room this time. I was put right up on the top floor in a lovely room with loads of character, but unfortunately it didn't have a shower. I will stay again, but request a quiet room with a shower. perhaps we will get it right next time.

This was just a overnight stay for business. The hotel setting and facilities are very good unfortunately due to the time of my visit I could not make full use of the facilities and the area.
