“Radisson Sas Hotel Durham”

This is a newer hotel that is just a 15-20 min walk from the train station. It is located on a river walk with easy access to the old part of town. This is a very nice place to stay while visiting Durham.

“Perfect Hotel”

We had been traveling 18 hours and I knew we would be exhausted and would need a good night's sleep. I wanted a nice hotel, not a quaint "English" accommodation, which can be so iffy. We were so fortunate to stay here. We arrived at 11am and the room was not yet ready but they took our bags and offered the room as soon as it could be turned. They ultimately offered two choices, a king bed with sofa bed or a king with a roll away for our 17 year old. We chose the roll away and it was a great one! Twin size, thick new mattress, excellent linens. Best roll away our son has ever slept on! The room was large and the bathroom very nice. Hotel is close to city center and lots of good restaurants and shops. We walked everywhere. The hotel is a 3 minute taxi ride from the train station. The rate was extremely competitive and well worth the good night's sleep. Also, hotel has nice computer center with high speed connection and lots of lobby space.

“Great location”

Right on the banks of the Wear, across a pedestrian bridge from the city center, yet the rooms were quiet and very comfortable.

“Great hotel, lousy manager”

We were assured at check-in that breakfast was included for our party of 4. I was a bit surprised but jet lagged so I asked clerk to confirm. She did, including that it was Expedia booking. When we checked out the next day we were informed that breakfast was NOT included for us and that we had been charged $25 each including 2 children who ate very little. The manager would not budge; he should have at least agreed to split difference since his staff misled us into a $100 added expense. The hotel is great, very relaxing and a short walk up hill to Durham sites, but management has a bad attitude towards guests in our experience.

“looks good. but not really inside.”

Hotel Key was not worked. I had to visit reception 3 times and then found that its locking system was broken. I needed to wait in restaurant but locking system is not fixed so they changed my room to river side. There was refrigerator but it was empty so I tried to order some beer or water but reception didn't answer the phone (last third time she hung up before answer...)
