Not suitable for businessPosted Nov 25, 2013
WiFi did not work No mobile phone signal Extortionate land line prices Wattage of room lights too low to read. Layout more tortuous than a maze. But the service at dinner was very friendly and efficient.

Very nice breakPosted Oct 16, 2013
Location: Darlington Rail Museum - Closed Mondays and Tuesdays for Winter (20 mins). National Rail Museum at Shildon (5 mins)
Very good stay at a lovely hotel. Straightforward check in, but a long walk to the room. Use of gym with swimming pool, sauna and steam room which made the stay even more relaxing and refreshing. Room was the usual business accommodation but clean with no complaints. The restaurant books quickly for evening dinner but there is a fantastic pub in Heighlington about 5 minutes drive away. Breakfast was first rate with fantastic staff service. Would definately recommend.

Spectacular, But!Posted Sep 27, 2013
Pros: The ambience and grounds were beautiful and the room wanted for nothing!
Cons: Customer service and organization by management. I felt very slight Hated and taken advantage of while being outsourced!
Location: The only thing I was able to do because of their booking error was visit Durham Cathedrial which was breathtakingly beautiful.
I had booked my room for two nights weeks in advance. When I arrived after a long day of train riding I was told I was being outsourced to another hotel for one night and then they would pay for a cab to bring me back to Redworth Hall. This was happening to many people and I had my escor drive me out of town to this other hotel. I missed my "included" breakfast while trying to checkout of my substitute hotel so I could wait for a cab to take me back to Redworth. When I finally got there and asked for some formal explanation, I was greeted by a trainee who had just arrived back from holiday. She was all alone and had to get someone from the restaurant bring up my bags as soon as they were free. I never did receive any explanation. I had to cancel my scheduled day of touring and try to find something for just the afternoon. Very frustrating! The next day it took over 30 minutes for them to bring my two bags down, while my taxi waited. The hotel was everything I had hoped for, but I did not have ant time to do so.....

Good hotel let down in some instancesPosted Sep 19, 2013
Pros: Considering how busy the hotel was, particularly on the Saturday night with the wedding, it was not noisy and we had an undisturbed night.
Cons: Adjust the air conditioning or turn it off when the outdoor temperature is below say 18 degrees centigrade.
Hotel was very busy on the nights that we stayed. A Saturday and Sunday night on the Great North run weekend. With a wedding on the Saturday. Car parking is some distance from reception so make sure you use the drop off for the luggage outside reception. Weather had turned chilly but the hotel restaurant and bar area was still blowing cold air through the air conditioning making it extremely uncomfortable unless you were wearing outdoor clothing. We left our room quite tidy etc and when we returned to our room on Sunday evening found that housekeeping had done very little other than give us fresh towels. Used cups, glass not cleaned etc. Bathroom not cleaned and bin not emptied in bathroom, bed not made up. We contacted housekeeping and the hotel sent somebody to complete the cleaning and were very apologetic.

Perfectly situated near the A1Posted Sep 13, 2013
Pros: Beautiful older parts of the building; excellent breakfast; huge comfortable bed;separate shower and bath.
Cons: Perhaps better signing from Wetherby.
We needed to go as far north as Newcastle and as far south as Leeds so the hotel was brilliantly situated for us, near the A1. We were glad to return to its peace and quiet after quite demanding days out.

O.K. if you get a good dealPosted Aug 21, 2013
Location: Very pretty setting
Windows are misted even in a supposed renovated room. Bed linen of decent quality Bathroom was well planned Breakfast used very low quality food and badly cooked. It also costs £4 each for a game of crazy golf. The staff are well trained and very helpfull

Stay at hotel but eat elsewherePosted Aug 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
The leisure facilities are good, the room was nice BUT this is my second stay and the food was terrible on both visits. What I ordered wasn't what I received, it was over priced for the quality and the overall experience was very disappointing. I complained, and the Duty Manager was respectful of my views and knocked certain items off my bill but sadly their second chance has been lost and I shan't be returning.

I thought that the hotel was great for the deal I got. Has use to the swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and gym which were great. The location was good as well. Really nice grounds.
