“Hard to Get To, but Worth the Effort”

The hotel is easily visible from the highway, but we didn't see any sign on the hwy telling which street to use to get there. You have to turn on a street that goes to a Sleep Inn, then turn right just before the Sleep Inn to get to the Holiday Inn. But once we found it, the room was fully up to Holiday Inn's standards of cleanliness and comfort. My only complaint was that there was no hot tub. But the indoor pool was nice and warm, and roomy enough for a few laps. The full breakfast was appreciated. I suspect the cheese omelet was made from powdered eggs, but the cheese made it tasty.

Area recommendations

Don't know much about Dyersburg, but a few miles down Hwy 51 is the "Alex Haley Boyhood Home & Museum" in the small town of Henning. I would urge every lover of Roots to pause an hour or so for that.

Dining

I would recommend Applebee's, although we didn't learn until too late that there was one in the town. Apparently it's new, and it wasn't listed in the phone book. It is in a mall just across the highway from the motel. We asked the desk clerk for a recommendation, and were directed to the "Grecian Steakhouse" which wasn't really Grecian, and probably wasn't much of a steakhouse either. I'm leery of a steak dinner priced at $9.99! It was a mediocre buffet restaurant--nothing reallly bad, but nothing especially good, either.

“An enjoyable trip to a small town treasure!”

It was my first time at this hotel and I was very satisfied with the accomodations.

Area recommendations

Bruce High School is an historic landmark in the city. Named after the famous African American Blanche Kelso Bruce it now serves as the Bruce Community Center for east Dyersburg, Tennessee.
