Pros: Easy Access from Interstate Highway System
Cons: Surrounding Industrial Areas
Location: Nothing conveniently located near by.
Satisfactory place to stay with easy access from Interstate Highways with rather austere surroundings.

Cons: Need to have someone inspect rooms after being cleaned.
Loved our stay at Ameristar. The only complaint we had our room wasn't entirely cleaned the bathroom was dirty but, I called the front desk and they sent the sweetest young lady up and she went above and beyond what needed to be done. They also gave us passes to the buffet that night. Would highly recommend this hotel!!

Great hotel, sub-par casino

Posted Sep 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
Legitimately a 4-star room, in a hotel attached to a 1-star casino. I stayed here as an alternative to staying downtown Chicago, and saved hundreds of dollars on room cost and parking (free!). I was intrigued by the New Poker Room advertised at the Ameristar Casino, but disappointed when I went up to check it out at 9pm on a Monday night, and there were ZERO people there. Luckily, the Horseshoe Hammond is a quick 15 minute drive and has some of the best poker in the area. Commuting in and back from my downtown Chicago office was also painless. Although nearly a 30 mile drive, it took me less than 50 minutes to get either way during rush hour. Staying in a hotel in the western suburbs would have been 2 hours easily! Overall, the stay was as I expected it to be, although I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the hotel room and the hotel side of the Ameristar location. If they upgrade the Casino side to match, I would easily give this location a 5. As it stands, the hotel is a 5, but the casino drags it down a bit. Also, there is absolutely nothing to do in the surrounding area, as it is pretty much just oil/gas refineries. But, I was fully aware of that component and it did not detract from my stay.
