BW Ghent

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Nice rooms, great breakfast, very close to train station and extremely close to tram. The later was great when wanting to move about the city. But it made the rooms on that side of the street noisy, especially with the windows open at night.

convenience and value

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: convenient location, clean and all basic needs met.
Cons: room partitions should be more soundproof. air conditioning would be big improvement.
Location: very handy for station and tram into old town.
close to station (5 min walk) but reasonably quiet location. Tram stop right outside with simple 10 min trip into old town. room/facilities in good condition but can be noisy between rooms, especially with late nighters arriving or early departers. included breakfast buffet quite satisfactory. no air conditioning - not a problem when outside temperature not high (20 deg C).

Friendly hotel close to main station

Posted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: Facilities, position, food, staff.
Cons: Decoration is a little tired.
Location: Gent is a marvellous city for those interested in culture and history. It is also a good centre for rail trips, for example to Antwerp. Beats Bruges!
The position of the hotel is very good, close to the main St. Peter's station but with excellent tram links to the city centre. The Citadel Park and main art galleries are within easy walking distance. Rooms are comfortable, although the trams can be clearly heard in those at the front. Breakfast is excellent and the rooms have coffee and tea making facilities (unusual in Belgium!). The staff are very friendly and helpful and there is a pleasant ground floor lounge with a bar that is open in the evening.

Reasonable hotel

Posted May 27, 2014
Pros: Breakfast. Proximity to train station. Reasonable price.
Cons: Lighting.
Location: Ghent is a great city to visit with many interesting things around the centre. It's also very easy to visit other Belgian cities via train.
This hotel is close to Ghent St Pieters train station which makes it very convenient. It is about 25 minutes' brisk walk to the city centre, although it's also easy to take a tram and you can buy tram tickets from reception. The room was small but adequate. However, the lighting in the room and particularly in the bathroom was a bit dingy. There was a mini-bar but no safe in the room. The breakfast was quite good. It was possible to hear other guests in the corridor but there was not much noise leaking in from other rooms. The reception is unstaffed from 11pm.

Ghent Regatta stay

Posted May 13, 2014
Pros: Ideal for people in Ghent for a reason with a busy schedule.
Cons: Breakfast - starts at eight with no flexibility or alternatives. Basement car park, only suitable for small cars & tight access steep slope.
Location: Short walk to city centre & station.
In town for the Ghent rowing regatta. Hotel 20 minutes walk from the rowing lake & 20 minutes from the city centre. Ideal.

Good service, terrible odour

Posted Apr 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
Positives: great staff, good location to access tram and train station Negatives: terrible odor due to outdated sewage system, the elevator(lift) stinks so bad due to the exhaust in the lift well, the room is was in and all the x02 rooms smelled like a sewage store every morning during peak usage hours- the evenings were better, but the staff were helpless other than some air fresheners. Avoid this hotel of you can stay at another one The people are really nice though, no doubt about that.

Near the Central train station

Posted Apr 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is in need of tender loving care. it is located in an odd shape building and they have not made an effort to better improve the ergonomic challenges of the room. The mattress was very soft and the single bed was small and had a body length headboard similar to a day bed. When i arrived the television did not work. My room was just not well appointed. I would not recommend this hotel if you are trying to optimize your visit to this beautiful city.

BW Chamade Gent

Posted Mar 24, 2014 on Hotels.com
Staff were very friendly and helped me enormously with parking my van in the street. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was enjoyable in a nice, light room at the top of the hotel. The hotel itself is only a 10 minute tram ride from the old town and the stop is right outside!. St. Pieters train station is a two-minute walk!

Moderate accommodations

Posted Oct 31, 2013
Our room was okay though our friends stated their room did not have an A/C so they had their window open. We were there in October so it must be more unpleasant during the simmer months for those unfortunate tio get a room wiithout A/C. Good location , however, very close to Gent Sint Peters train station and the tram jus in front of their door to go to the city center

Convenient for rail station and city centre.

Posted Sep 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
Small hotel close to the rail station and tram stop just outside for direct route to city centre. Fittings a little dated (carpet stained) but overall cleanliness good. Tea/coffee making facilities in room replenished daily, great breakfast range and quality (scrambled eggs and continental bacon, various breads/rolls/pastries, hams/cheeses, freah fruit and yogurt selections) but no room safe.
