Hotel on canalPosted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: pleasant 20-30 min walk to city centre. Once we figured out the transit system, good options available a short walk away. Good size room.
Cons: Front desk could mention other transit options (trams nearby), not just the bus stop across the canal.
Location: Ghent is a wonderful city. We walked along the canal to city centre and took the bus or tram back.
I picked this hotel because of the free parking. My daughter and I stayed two nights. We did not take the breakfast as it was very expensive. The beds were quite uncomfortable, the worse I have had in years. Good size TV screen to see the World Cup, though.

Good hotelPosted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: Modern clean hotel with a warm welcome and free car parking.
Cons: The evening meal was felt to be very expensive with little choice for British tastes. Would avoid this next visit.
Location: Close to the river and about a 20 minute brisk walk to the Ghent old centre.
This hotel was very clean and comfortable. The bed was excellent and extremely comfortable. The only criticism would be for the evening meal. This was small in quantity and very expensive. However the breakfast would receive full marks for both quality and quantity.

Clean, comfortable and quiet.Posted Jun 13, 2014
Pros: It was comfortable, clean and quiet, with a good breakfast. The coffee at breakfast was excellent. Helpful staff. Easy parking.
Cons: The only improvement would be the insect gauze on the window, which didn't fit properly. Mosquitoes might be a problem in hot weather.
Location: Pleasantly located by the river, which is easy to follow if you want to walk into the historic centre.
Comfortable hotel with helpful staff, by the river, which you can follow for a pleasant walk into the centre of Ghent. It's about a 25 minute walk, but well worth it.

Nice hotel on outskirts of townPosted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: Location, free parking, comfy, clean rooms
Cons: Keep the hot food hot at breakfast
Location: Gent is a lovely city and I highly recommend cycling down the canal to Oudenarde for lunch.
We spent one night at the Europahotel and it met all our requirements. The hotel is located about a 25 minute walk from the centre of Gent, a taxi back cost us about €12 which seemed quite expensive. We chose the hotel for the free parking and found it a good base for cycling on the canal. There is quite a lot of free parking but time your arrival right so other guests have checked out and left some spaces free! The hotel also offers underground parking for €10 a night. The hotel was clean and comfortable and there was a good choice for breakfast, although watch out for cold eggs and bacon!

Good Location - average HotelPosted May 10, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel provides free parking and is in a good location about 30-40 mins walk along the canal to the centre of Ghent. When we arrived at the hotel around 2.30 p.m. we found the the restuarant had closed for lunch, but this was not a problem with the manager organinsing his staff to prepare a lovely salad for us. On inspecting our room we found it to be of an average standard with slightly worn mattresses, no safe or tea / coffee facilities in the room, otherwise everything appeared okay. In the restuarant prices appeared quite high, needless to say we found a good choice of restuarants in the centre of ghent which were more reasonably priced. On checking out we were asked if everything had been okay and mentioned the matresses appeared to be worn and needed changing. At which point the receptionist responded defensively by saying mattresses were a personal choice.and were only 2 years old. We were quite shooked by this response and again stated the mattresses were worn and needed changing but had otherwise had a good stay.

Nice cozy hotelPosted May 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel is located about 15 minutes from city centre and offers great location for Biljoke where you have city museum and music hall. Staff was very helpful and nice. Condition of hotel is perfect and room are quite big. Close neighbourhood is very quiet and you can get decent sleep.

Visitors travelling by carPosted Apr 29, 2014
Pros: It is quiet, easy to access, and not too far from the centre of Ghent.
Cons: There was a loud buzzing noise in Room 101 apparently caused by the adjacent lift, (but the staff agreed to move us to another room)
Location: If you do not want to drive your car into the centre of Ghent, it takes about 20 to 25 minutes to walk there from the hotel.
This hotel is conveniently situated for anyone travelling by car who needs somewhere to stay overnight. There is free parking on site. The hotel is comfortable and the staff are friendly.

No TitlePosted Mar 10, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: Don't tell guests asking about evening meal that there's a party staying so the kitchen won't be serving other guests.
Location: Go to the city centre- there's plenty. Within a mile of the hotel it's just suburbia but without the pubs & eateries.
Ghent really was worth a visit and does need at least 2 days to see. The city pass is excellent value if you want to do some of the "cultural" things. The hotel room was clean, spacious and well equipped, the breakfast was excellent. The Europa is a bit out of the centre (about 1- 2 miles) but is well served by bus & tram, this is needed since in the immediate area there's not much in the way of eating places at a "reasonable" price- there's a really nice restaurant- fantastic food a good 5 mins walk away- but expect to pay as much per meal as the Europa charges per might. Allegedly the hotel serves food- but not on Sunday, and if they get a large party booked in they seem unwilling to feed their other guests. That said I would recommend the hotel and would certainly consider it if going to Ghent again.

Friendly and efficientPosted Jan 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
Like most business trips I didn't spend long in the hotel, but while I was there the staff were friendly and efficient. Everything in the room worked (I wish that were more common!), everything was clean and attractive, and the breakfast was almost all set out at 7am, as advertised. Comfortable walking distance to Gent St Pieters railway station; just far enough to wake me up in the morning. No "oh wow, that's wonderful" moments, but I'd definitely stay here again.

Friendly staff, modern and clean roomsPosted Dec 30, 2013
Pros: Value for money; Comfortable rooms; Excellent services; Free Wireless Internet in the room and lobby; Breakfast included; Free on-site parking
Cons: Breakfast is good, as a vegetarian, it'll be nice if they separate the eggs and bacon but this didn't bother me too much
Location: The hotel is 15-20 mins bus ride(no.38, 39) or 30 mins walk to the city centre. The bus stop is only a couple of mins walk from the hotel.
The hotel staff are very friendly and had no problem communicate in English, the room was clean and comfortable. Free wireless internet connection in the room, a very comfortable place to be after a long day walk around Gent.
