Spent 4 nights in Ghent in May 2014 for a fiftieth birthday celebration.Travelled via Eurostar and train to the beautiful city of Ghent. If you want to be emerged in european history but still like to eat and drink well Ghent could be for you.Found that there is little or no English translation even on menu's. As in most european countries found that nearly everyone was able to translate the Flemish, Dutch or german in english for us. A great relaxing city break.Numerous places to eat make your way to the tourist information and pick up Restro Ghent leaflet which will give you a place to start.Would recommend T" Vosken by the cathedral for good quality and reasonable priced food ( the beef stew and fish stew where exceptional ). If you want a steak the place to go is Du Prgress by St.Nicholas church the two person T Bone was immense, better like your stark rare though.

The hotel was ideally located in the heart of the old city. I was there for my son's stag weekend (he and his chums were staying elsewhere !) Close to many places of interest, fine shops and good quality restaurants.

The room suite on the top floor was excellent and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good too. The only problem we had, was that we were there with our teenage kids and they got the good single beds that make a double and we were on a sofa bed on the floor, which wasn't very comfortable. There was enough room to put a double bed in there, and that would be our recommendation. I know it was only for one night, but you are in bed for about 8 hours and the bed is the most important feature in a hotel.

The hotel was adequate, well located for the city centre, the receptionist was helpfull and the room was okay for the price paid, the were quite a few steps and would not be suitable for someone who was not quite fit.

the decor was ok there was a missing cover for a light above one of the beds, the radiators could do with painting,
