Great location in the centre of ghent

Pros: Mainly its location and underground car park
Cons: Tea making facility in room did not include any milk and reception staff seemed reluctant to issue any.
Location: Right in the heart of the city close to its many buildings, churches restaurants etc.
Had a lovely few days in Ghent and the location of the hotel made it very easy to get to most of the sights this lovely city has to offer.

Location: It's very central so it was easy to access to historic centre from the hotel on foot.
This is a great hotel. It's not luxury boutique but it doesn't charge for that either. It's a well maintained hotel in a great location. The staff were very good and helpful. There's a lovely little very downstairs. Room was great. Clean and well maintained. I'd be happy to stay again.

Perfect location for a visit to Ghent

The hotel was in the perfect location for us to explore Ghent, being central to all the sights and sounds. We were going to Brugge for the day and the staff were very helpful in finding train times and informing us when and where to catch them. We travel to Ghent regularly and this has been the best experience so far, highly recommended.

Nice hotel right in the center of Gent

The hotel is nice and clean and has a lovely little pool area and bar in the courtyard. This is really very nice in the middle of the summer when the city can be very hot. Overall I was very pleased with the hotel, but was a little surprised when on our arrival, while speaking to the house keeping lady about towels etc, she simply dumped all the toiletries on our bed and left it for us to sort them. Also, don't be surprised if you see guests walking around with ironing boards and irons... Apparently the hotel is glad to provide them, but does not "provide the service of delivering them to the room". So you will have to go to the reception and carry it yourself, just like I did. I suspect that not many business travellers are used to this... On another note, if you are booking a room with an additional sofa bed... Be advised that the foot end of the fold out sofa bed (two individual beds from a double sofa) is definitely noticeably higher than the head end.

Staff was unbelievably rude.

Location: The location was convenient. That is about all that I have to say that is positive about the hotel.
The room was low-quality-- tacky, worn, and small. There was a knotty hairball stuck to the blanket on my bed. But more importantly, the hotel staff was extremely rude to us. BARGED INTO OUR ROOM WITHOUT PERMISSION AT 1 AM WHILE WE WERE SLEEPING. (We are two women.) Called us in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. Referred to us as 'rude Americans' and assumed we were breaking the rules of the hotel. Refused to let friends of ours who we were meeting up with up to our room to use our bathroom. The whole time we were there we felt we were being spied on. The late night entrance into our room made us feel extremely unsafe and violated. If you look through the other reviews of this hotel, most of the complaints are about the rude staff. If you stay here, expect patronizing service and a staff that is always suspicious and spying on you.

Handy for the city but thats all

Cons: Staff attitude
Location: Multiple historic sites and a wide variety of cafe
First of all 100+ rooms and 20 parking spaces, staff uninterested if you cannot park and at a busy time of year there is zero other parking in Gent. Damaged plumbing holes in bathroom wall poor lighting Go and stay at the Holiday Inn near the university at least you can park and get a cab or tram to town

Okay hotel, great location

Pros: The location is great.
Cons: The airconditioning does not work.
This is hotel is what you can expect from a Novotel. Nothing special but nothing bad either except in this case the air conditioning. It does not work. As it was very hot that weekend, sleeping was not very confortable. If you plan to go to Gent and the weather predictions indicate that it is going to be hot, don t go to this hotel but look for one with airconditioning that works.
