this is the second time we have stayed at the portland hotel.on both occasions we have found the hotel,to be clean and the staff very helpfull and friendly.handy location for the town centre.would definately stay here again

overall a good experience , unfortunately the parking after 6.00pm is difficult.

good stay, parking is an issue but overall a pleasing stay and breakfast was great.

“Excellent Value”

I was a bit concerned about booking this hotel given the awful reviews. However, I was plesantly surprised. Although the hotel is a bit dated the room was clean and comfortable, excellent value for the price, and the staff were friendly. I didn't have any problems with noise (although friends staying at the same time were woken in the small hours it was by someone in a neighbouring room rather than street noise). We didn't have breakfast so not sure what that was like.

“The Porlland hotel Hull”

i was in some trepidation after having read some of the reviews. Indeed, the reception area was somewhat dingy and in need of a face-lift. But we weren't staying there! The room was spotless, with everything we needed; very comfortable in fact. We will certainly stay there again.

friendly and homely,good value hotel room with clean bathroom, comfy bed with lovely bed linen.

“Central location,”

Excellent location, The rooms have a very small bathroom which needs updating, but for the price we paid it was good. You can park your car on the strret in front of hotel after 6pm but during the day there is a charge. we parked in the station car park.

“Cheap Overnight Stay”

The staff were very welcoming on our arrival. The room was clean and the bed linen was clean. The room was very cramped, one side of the double bed was only 30cms from the wall which made getting out of bed in the dark a little tricky. The hotel itself is very tired and in need of refurbishment. If I had paid the tariff quoted on the hotel website I would have been extremely disappointed but for the price I paid I can't complain too much. If you can get a cheap deal to stay here then I would say that it's a bargain, just don't pay the full price or you will have been cheated!

“DON'T BOTHER!!!!”

I have no idea how this hotel can claim to be a 4*, I certainly saw no evidence of it! Extremely dated decor, paper coming off the walls, very dark and depressing room, bathroom you couldn't swing a cat in, electric heater almost hanging off the wall. Then there was the farce which was car parking, the hotel claims to have a car park but doesn't and I got two different stories when I asked staff where to park. first person I asked told me I'd need to hand my keys in at reception and they'd take it to "the car park" (sounded pretty dodgy to me and I am from Hull!) then the other option was to go park in Prncess Quay shopping centre overnight (secure) and they'd give me a ticket to get out the following morning. If they'd have just said that on the website I'd have been saved a LOT of hassle moving the car around. The final thing, the location is right in the centre of town but more precisely in the centre of "chav city" which on a saturday night was unbearably noisy and with our room being right at the front on the main road we had the pleasure of listening to the screaming chavs and music all night...All in all a RUBBISH stay, I've stayed in better motorway hotels.
