“fernwood villas”

facilities at the resort are quite dated. the pool & locker rooms are dirty & have not been updated in more than 20 years. not enough benches in locker room & showers were disguisting. The grounds are in need of maintainence. The outside of the villas need repair & repainting as well. i saw some rotted wood around doorways in the villa area.

“It was ok but the kids had fun”

I wanted to share we stayed at the Fairway Villas my kids had fun however my husband and I first experience was a rude lady in the check in who told us our Villa was not ready mean while my brother in law checked into his I do need to say Mr. Burke who witness what was told to us took care of getting us getting into our Villa with our three young boys. Between the first greet and not having housekeeping service oh the pool area needs to be cleaned more that was our only down pit other then that the kids had fun!!!

“Will be back...”

The villa was nice, was a little hesitant reading other reviews but figured those were of the cheaper hotel rooms not the villas. The check in was nice and quick and the staff was very friendly. I don't know what the other people were talking about. My wife and I asked a couple questions as to where to eat a nice dinner to celebrate our anniversary and they reffered us to a nice restaurant and were very courteous. Yes the room needs a little updating but hey, you are there to relax and get away, not stay int he room allw eekend so who cares if you don't have a huge flat screen tv! overall I thought it was a nice little place to stay.

“Comfortable Bed / Uncomfortable Room”

Our stay was OK. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The bathroom was extremely small. The bath/shower was so narrow that you could hardly move. The room had a heart-shaped tub that we obviously pAID EXTRA FOR BUT HAD NO IDEA IT WAS IN THE RO0M prior to arriving. I think that this info about the tub should have been made available so we could have passed on it. The tub in the middle of the room took up alot of space giving us little room to walk, etc. The fact that we probably paid extra for this was disappointing since we had no intention to use it. Also there is no window that you can see out of which gives you the feeling of being in a dungeon.

“out dated, needs major maintenance”

The website gave it 4 1/2 stars! where did that come from? Maybe two stars at best. Won't recommend it and won't stay again. Dirty, smelly, falling apart.

“Not what it used to be. Needs to upgrade to the new century”

I was very dissapointed with my vacation at Fernwood. We have been visiting this property since 1990. We have enjoyed ourselves in recent years and recommended this site to our family and friends. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. our room was uncomfortable and noisy. I did not sleep for two days. Some relaxing weekend! There used to be t.v.'s in all bedrooms, but not now. Our smoke detector went off while cooking, because there wasn't a ventilation fan, and we could not turn it off. No one from the hotel ever called to check on us nor did they ever come to turn it off. God forbid if we had an actual fire. We got no response from the hotel when an alarm was set off. After calling for assistance, someone finally came and turned off this awful alarm. Plumbing, heating and decor is 1980's - bad news. This is the last time Fernwood will see my $$$$$.

“Hotel is durty and overcrouded”

We stayed for 1 night in this hotel. We booked villa for 2 nights but wanted to start our vacation earlier and booked one extra night at the hotel. Front desk people were nice and helpfull, but employees in public areas, like pool and snowtubing were very rude and upprofessional. Pool water was very cold, hot tab had durt floating and weird smell. Our room was ok, carpet was old and durty....I wouldn't spend there more then one night! We were so glad to move to the villa next morning. Villa was great - clean, specious - everything and even more that we had expected. We definatelly will go back there but will avoid hotel itself.

“Sadly disappointed”

After having spent a really nice few days earlier in the Shawnee area at a different hotel, we were anxious to spend another great few days. Check in was pleasant -- the representative was wonderful; we were then referred to another person who offered a 2-bedroom vacation if we would join others in a meeting about Fernwood and Treetops etc. We said we would think about it. We were offered great information about the resort and its facilities and were excited. We then went to our room. OMG -- the portion of the hotel in which we were asked to reside had soiled carpeting in the hallways and the room was so "50s" that it had a heart-shaped red tub that we both felt was "iffy" to use. The bed was uncomfortable and the floor was slanted. There was a sauna that we did not use. The bathroom was adequate, but we did not have hot water, only luke warm. We walked the grounds and found most of the area was not kept up. The walking path around the "lake" was overgrown in spots.and difficult to find. To make a long story short, we had paid for 2 nights, but left after the first night . I have to add that the children seemed to be having a nice time, the pool was full of teenagers having a great time, and the on-site bar was pleasant. Would we stay there again? No.

“nice villas on spacious property”

good location near Bushkill Falls ( a must see). it's worth paying for the upgrade to 1bedroom (studio is ok but 1 bedroom is much nicer). miniature golf course was fun and just $3 per person.
