Arty, cool weekend residencePosted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: The overall ambience, character of the building, artworks, decor etc. were all wonderful. The cocktails and breakfast were both really excellent.
Cons: The room was a little tired and the double bed was quite small. It was adequate, but it didn't feel particularly luxurious in any way.
Our weekend stay was really enjoyable. We loved the location and the building; its decor and all the wonderful design details were fab. Cocktails at the bar before an evening out were great and our breakfast the following morning served in the communal room was absolutely spot on. Great coffee and a perfect Sunday morning soundtrack playing in the background. Our room was fine, but not particularly special inside. It did have a fantastic view across Regency Square and out to sea which we enjoyed from the balcony. A small and not very comfy bed let down the overall experience, but it wouldn't stop me coming back or recommending. A very cool place to stay with bags of charm and individual character, plus a laid back, friendly and helpful team of staff. Thank you!

Fab little gemPosted Feb 13, 2015
Stayed in a tiny room, which I would recommend just to experience how much they can so with such a small space!! Whole hotel had a lovely quirky feel and the staff were all really friendly. Would def recommend as a great base for a night or two in Brighton.

A lovely hotel with characterPosted Feb 5, 2015
Pros: Loved the atmosphere in the hotel and the enthusiastic staff members. Also, the breakfast was super tasty!
Cons: The breakfast room was a bit cold.
Location: Really central, close to both the train station and the beach.
We loved our stay at Artist Residence. It's a small hotel close to the beach and train station. There are only about 30 rooms, but each room has a special character created by the artist's work. Our room had cute paintings on two of the walls, and little quirky furniture details. Even though it was described as 'tiny', there was more than enough room for us and our luggage. The common areas were very pleasant and cosy. There is a bar, a ping pong room and a common room with armchairs and sofas.

We came down to see Alabama 3 at Concorde 2 (another great gig in Brighton) and just stayed the night. We were only at the hotel for a short while but are back in January for a weekend and very much looking forward to it. I think it is probably now our favourite Brighton Hotel - it has a great relaxed feel and has a great kind of groove.

Not perfect but perfect for me!Posted Dec 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
Just a lovely little hotel that is a world away from corporate blandness. A great location with clear views all the way down to the beach overlooking the old pier. Ok, so not everything is finished off perfectly and there are plenty of rough edges. The shower is the smallest I have ever used and getting shower gel out of the wall-mounted holders was a pain and ok, the heating didn't work terribly well but they offered me two free cocktails and a portable heater so it all ended well. The hotel also has a great cocktail bar and does a wonderful, cheap breakfast. I loved it. I hope you do too.

Good room and excellent breakfastPosted Dec 15, 2014
Location: Had dinner at the Ginger Dog - highly recommended.
Stayed in room number 5 with a great view over the square and the pier ruins in the sea. Room had funky painted walls and a round (soft) bed. Good shower. What makes this hotel is the fantastic breakfast and cocktail bar, plus the decor of downstairs and the cool ping pong room. Friendly staff.

Overnight stay.Posted Nov 5, 2014
Pros: We really liked the decoration and its proximity to the beach and town centre. Staff were very helpful.
Cons: We had a very nice breakfast, but a few more staff would have made the service a little quicker.
Location: Beautiful Georgian building, close to the seafront, main shopping area and the pier.
The hotel is quirky decor and friendly, helpful staff made this short visit very enjoyable.

Modern, individuell und großartiger ServicePosted Oct 19, 2014 on Hotels.com

Love Artists Residence.Posted Oct 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed at The Artists residence from 11/10/14 to 13/10/14. We arrived about 40mins before official register time. We were told politely our room was not ready but would be within the hour. We left our bags & went for a walk. When we returned we went to our room which was on the 4th floor. there is a lift but it is very small (3 people max). The stairs are also quite tight, steep & winding. We were pleasantly surprised by the room itself which was decorated in a psychadelic pattern (room 11). It was at the front of the hotel with a great view of the old pier. The room & bathroom were both very clean & tidy. Breakfast was served in the dining area & there was a good choice to be had from toast, muesli etc right up to a full English which was very nice. Staff were always very pleasant & happy to answer any queries or requests put to them. We drank in the bar on the Sunday where the barman was also a very pleasant chap, happy to make conversation & helped us make a choice from the extensive cocktail list. there are items of art placed all around the hotel which are all for sale although i thought a little expensive. Overall a very pleasant stay & i would recommend to anyone. I would definitely stay there again myself.
