A bit mixed

Posted Nov 3, 2014
Pros: Staff and location.
Cons: Cleanliness and decor.
Location: Near Rye and Bodiam
The hotel is in a good location and easy to find. The staff really make this place, they are very helpful indeed. Generally the hotel needs a lick of paint and some new furniture and carpets. The pool area was enjoyed by my 11 year old. Breakfasts are excellent. Our room looked onto the garden and was very tired looking. It needed a spring clean- lots of cobwebs, and the bath tiles were mouldy. Over priced.

A Weekend Birthday Treat

Posted Jan 14, 2014
Pros: The hotel is very pleasant, quiet and makes a relaxing break. Excellent facilities onsite. Staff very friendly and aim to please.
Cons: Only a few little caretaking tasks i.e. car park could do with some holes being drilled to enable good drainage to enable heavy rain to drain away.
Location: Good access to Rye and Camber where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Lovely surrounding countryside and Bodiam Castle just a few miles
An absolutely lovely stay at a peaceful location with the additional facility of an onsite spa. Hotel staff absolutely accommodating and very helpful.

Staff were useless and service terrible

Posted Jan 8, 2014
So I order food. After an hour wait it transpires that the order has not been placed. The reception staff appeared to have no clue as to what times the resturant opened, what menus were available. We were overcharged on check out. The staff didnt seem to have a clue. The breakfast was nice but the service was terrible

Close to Rye

Pros: The restaurant was surprisingly good. The bar manages to be both capacious and cozy.
Cons: Signage and access from the road and lighting in the guest rooms are minor things that could be improved..
Location: The town of Rye is interesting. Go to Lamb House (Henry James' residence) and just wander around the center of town.

Fantastic staff

Pros: Attentive staff
Cons: Finding it!
Location: Lovely entrance, fantastic gardens
We stayed in the attic of the main house and it could do with a bit of tlc. However, that was more than made up by the staff and facilities. Cannot recommend the staff highly enough, a very strong team! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Lovely old place in the Sussex countryside

Location: Rye, Peasmarsh and all the surrounding villages have a good selection of pubs with dining facilities. Rye has excellent restaurants and historical sites to visit. Rye Harbour is a fascinating working harbour and nature reserve. Camber Castle is nearby and for those that enjoy it, there are lots of walks in that location.
We are farily local to the hotel and only stayed for only 1 night in December (we always go away for the night for my boyfriend's birthday, as December is a rather depressing time to have one!) The staff were friendly and we were made very welcome. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were large and of a very good quality. The dinner menu looked good (as did the wine list) but we didn't stay to eat, because they had a Christmas function booked up that night and didn't fancy sharing the dining room with a celebrating crowd. We took the short drive into Rye, which has a plethora of good restaurants. If I have one criticism at all, it's that the swimming pool in the Spa facility was really rather cold! My boyfriend and I are very keen swimmers and, although it didn't put us off from using it, you had to keep moving to keep your body temperature up! Otherwise, the Spa amenities were fine. Comfy bed, quiet room, loads of very hot water for baths, tea and coffee facilities, etc. I'd happily go again and would quite like to try the restaurant next time. Perhaps we'll have a Spring/Summer visit.
