“No problems, just quibbles”
Expensive only when compared to some of the horror stories masquerading as hotels/B&Bs elsewhere in Brighton. Ideal if you want a clean, quiet, comfortable place to leave your stuff and don't mind being away from the dismal seafront. A superb chain hotel. Literally three minutes from the railway station, past a taxi rank. Buses and another taxi rank in front of the station too. Quibbles ? No character, no views to speak of, but so what ? Not cheap - Brighton in summer isn't - and nudging a tenner for a full breakfast is pushing it. The hotel also attracts more than its share of stag/hen groups as guests, but they tend to swarm elsewhere and were never a problem. You're about twenty minutes' solid walk from the sea, but a quick bus or taxi ride will avoid the trek from the hotel's bland surroundings through some lively - read grotty - streets. My room was a double, very spacious but at the expense of cupboard space, minibar and in-room safe; the management recommends leaving valuables in secure storage at reception (free at time of writing), and I concur; there really is nowhere in the room. And there was a crack in my bathroom ceiling; hardly a disaster. Last issue is the red fire alarm pull-cords in the bathroom; in my room one was right beside the toilet and one in the shower, and two more inconvenient locations you couldn't hope to find.
