4 star prices . 2 star servicePosted Sep 18, 2013
Pros: The location is lovely. Right on the beach
Cons: Customer service. Restaurant staff. Heating.. Noise levels.
Location: Lovely walk along the beach in either direction
Poor service in restaurant at breakfast. food was good although friend had sharp piece of pottery porcelain in her food. Beds memory foam so no good if you like a firm bed. Very noisy at night with party goers and pipes. Had to have windows open as so hot in room. Car alarm went off in car park all night! Right next to railway so get trains passing close by. Carvery good, location good. Spa very small but clean. We got charged extra to what told on phone, but reception would have none of it!. Worst customer service . Compared to other hotels it is very expensive for the standard you get.

Attractive beach side setting.Posted Jun 4, 2013
Pros: Very good breakfast
Cons: Small pokey room and the coffee was over expensive.
Location: Very attractive location. Lovely patio area with seating fronting directly on to the beach.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very small, as was the bed. We didn't have a good night's sleep. We checked out the swimming pool but didn't use it as it looked very small. Overall I liked the yesteryear feel about the hotel, although our experience was let down by the room we were allocated.

Pleasing hotel, great location!Posted Oct 2, 2012
Cons: Lack of staff
Location: Fab. Location - right on the beach!
Clean & comfortable, staff were very pleasant - don't think there were enough of them tho! The hotel had a couple of wedding functions on, on the Saturday, the weather was warm & sunny, and as they have a terrace outside over looking the beach - we had tea sitting outside.... Only thing was, there were insufficient staff to clear the tables, you had to order from the bar - which in itself is not a problem, except it was understaffed & took ages! The rooms were very clean, lots of stairs tho, be aware if you find this difficult. The leisure suite was good, wish I'd done my homework before we went, didn't realise there was a pool! Good equipment in the gym, very clean. Some of the decor was a bit 'tired' - like the plug in the sink of the bathroom, the chrome effect was peeling off - paintwork around the hotel etc., for the price, it needed attention. the shower in our bathroom was really good, power assisted! Nice toiletries, good hospitality tray. Breakfast was excellent, they offered a good range, continental or full English, toast, fruit, juices & cereal - difficult to get staff attention to ask for more coffee /tea etc., short staffed again. Overall - not bad, but small things make a difference.

The Cooden Beach Hotel, a welcome haven to stay.Posted Sep 2, 2012
Pros: The Hotel itself and the friendliness of the welcome
Location: Location was far from the maddening crowds of the main town of Bexhill. A hidden gem
Receptionist provided the start of a Happy stay. All the staff welcomed you throughout the stay. Although my stay was only for one night, the welcome and friendly atmosphere from both staff and customers alike provided a happy occasion. If in the Bexhill area, I would recommend anyone to stay at The Cooden Beach Hotel.

On the beachPosted Feb 13, 2011
Yes it is on the beach! I booked a twin room because I hate tiny double beds, and the plan was to push the beds together. We ended up with a triple room though - double bed & a single, which kind of spoilt the romantic atmosphere I'd hoped for! Room was huge, bathroom recently done but not new, shower huge. Decoration in room and around hotel a little dated and needed sprucing up but not offputting. Room was above entrance to hotel tho, so people under our window having a chat and smoking - definitely spoiling the mood! Sea view across small carpark at the front - the hotel is set at an angle to the beach so even the restaurant looks over the cars - shame as there's a car park at the back which would avoid the cars spoiling the view. In the summer would be lovely as can sit outside directly on the beach. Gardens have now got flats on them so only small amount of green area, certainly not 2 acres! Staff were mostly friendly and helpful, but lots of "grey-haired" people around so we stood out a lot! Nothing else to do in area so hotel restaurant, bar, & "tavern" are the nightlife for the locals. Food great though, room service fab (only £2 extra charge), breakfast buffet good quality. Pool & gym area small but clean & quiet, a few local oldies use this during the day & are a bit particular about it! Was hoping a hotel on the beach would be WOW - it was nice but those finishing touches weren't there - "quaint" is not the same as needing freshening up! Not exactly romantic!
