A very grand hotel

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Lovely hotel , we have stayed before but now the restaurant has been updated and decorated making it so much better. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Our only gripe is that our room must have been near the air conditioning units so it was noisy in the night,

Excellent for an overnight business stay

Posted Dec 11, 2014
Pros: Service excellent
Cons: It was a bit cold but they found us an extra heater within minutes. Full marks.
Location: Right on the front.
Well maintained hotel with excellent staff. A pleasant change from some of the boring modern chains. Would stay there again.

Ideal weekend by the sea.

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: As explained above.
Cons: The door key to the bedroom was fiddly and it was difficult to get the door to open. The maintenance man had to be called, but the problem persisted.
Location: An excellent location overlooking the sea and within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants as well as theatres, museum and the Pavilion.
We were most impressed by the friendliness of all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel had recently undergone a complete refurbishment so looked pristine and our bedroom was well equipped and roomy with a King-size bed and large HD TV. The ensuite bathroom was a good size though the overhead shower didn't function. I had to make use of the hand-held shower which provided strong jets, and there was always plenty of hot water.

Twin Rooms

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: Brighton is a busy city - eating out, I would recommend you do your homework and book your choice well in advance
We had a really lovely stay but the hotel did not have the information about us wanting twin rooms and wer were initially shown to doubles, but as soon as we informed the reception of this error they did everything to sort it out as quickly as they could. They were extremely attentive.

Lovely hotel

Posted Dec 6, 2014
Pros: The sea view room I was upgraded to and comfy the bar area.
Cons: The shower!
Location: On the sea front in Brighton!
I booked last minute and got a room for a very good rate. I was then upgraded to a sea view room upon arrival. The room was massive, nicely presented and had all the facilities I expected and more. There were lots of staff on duty, who were all very friendly and attentive.

Lovely Luxurious weekend break without the kids!

Posted Dec 6, 2014
Pros: Everything!
Cons: The only slight issue with the sea view room we had was noise from people walking past late at night, some clearly having enjoyed a night out!
Location: Everything in Central Brighton is in easy walking distance - shops, sea, bars, restaurants etc. Perfect location for Brighton experience
We stayed on a Saturday night on December - deluxe sea view double room, just amazing! Room, hotel and staff all first class in every respect. The only thing to be aware of if you're planning a sea view room stay - Brighton seafront is not quiet!

Outstanding hotel and service

Posted Dec 3, 2014
Had a wonderful 2 night trip to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The best part for me was the service provided by the staff, who went the extra mile at all times. We have stayed at some very good hotels around the world, but nowhere has there appeared to be so many helpful staff, from the excellent doormen and concierge when you arrive and leave (always there to open doors and wish you good day), to the reception and other staff. We stayed in a 'Grand Collection' room, which I was initially disappointed with because it did not resemble the photographs I had seen on-line - - these it transpired were the 'Deluxe Seaview Grand Collection' rooms, slightly misleading. The room, however, was excellent and well furnished and even contained a Bose bluetooth speaker on the wall. A small criticism, why put just one easy-chair in a double room? The bathroom was well fitted too, with a lovely big shower-head and great water pressure. All in all, we had a very enjoyable visit, and will undoubtedly return at some time in the future - - it's just a shame that the Deluxe Seaview rooms are out of my budget.

Nice Hotel but not 5*.

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: The beds were comfortable and rooms clean and decor was nice
Cons: Food needs a huge improvement and back of house staff need to be as pleasant as front of house staff
Location: Location is great
Recently stayed at The Grand for a girls weekend. Phoned ahead to make sure Twin rooms but on arrival both rooms double . Quickly changed but by member of staff who definitely not happy in his work! Breakfast was a a shambles. Not enough plates and bowls etc and were only bringing out a few at a time so lots of standing around waiting then running out of food very quickly, no juices they ran out and staff were not even apologising or bringing out more food quickly. Lots of people standing around waiting for food and when it arrived was only luke warm. After complaining on check out very nice receptionist arrange a bottle of bubbly which was a nice gesture.

Great location but parts looking a but shabby

Posted Nov 28, 2014
We had a twin room on the 3rd floor, view of the building next door. The room wasn't set up as a rain even though we'd confirmed with Reception at check-in. The guy who came to split the beds left all the kingsize bedding on one bed and shoved the excess under the mattress! Not exactly 5*! Waiting staff were friendly, food good and great location.

The Grand lived up to its name.

Posted Nov 28, 2014
Pros: The staff, the bed and the location.
Cons: Breakfast was running out a bit by 9.45 - need to keep going till 10.00am
Great hotel, beautiful decor and fantastic staff. Rooms clean and lovely bathroom with nice smellies. Fantastic super-king sized bed. Would definitely stay again.
