Superb locationPosted Apr 5, 2014 on Hotels.com
Staff service was excellent. Food was very good. The location is perfect if you want beach views and people watching from the comfort of the veranda and early morning strolls on the beach. Room was clean and had a desk and good lighting when working in the evening. Remember you need a round pin adapter in SA, I have not found a multi-adapter that has one.

The Beach Hotel was the perfect place to stay in PE, located on the beach front next the the popular Boardwalk Mall with easy access to the airport and main roads. The hotel staff and facilities were excellent and there was an nice. relaxed atmosphere.Definitely would recommend it !

A jaded charmPosted Aug 12, 2013
Pros: Friendliness of staff
Cons: Needs a lift!
Location: Right by the Boardwalk and beach. Felt very safe. Close to a good selection of restaurants and bars.
This hotel is getting a little faded but it has a lovely charm to it. The staff are amazingly friendly- from the general manager down to the porter. The room was lovely and spacious as was e bathroom.

Splendid Art Deco hotelPosted Jul 7, 2013
Pros: The wonderful staff.
Cons: The (limed-wood) furniture in our excellent spacious room was rather worn.
Location: On the Beach as the name implies!
After trouble with a room where the aircon unit would deliver no heating (in a cold July), we were reallocated to the best room in the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful. The buffet dinner in the Veranda restaurant was great value (R100 for pensioners) and the Ginger restaurant also excellent. The breakfast was sumptuous too! After being burnt down, the hotel was rebuilt in the 1930s in Art Deco style, and much of the original decor (eg the stained glass windows) has been retained - much to be preferred to modern concrete blocks! Nicely situated for the airport and the beach...

Perfect hotel/perfect spot in Port Elizabeth!Posted Jun 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
PERFECT location to beach, pier, Boardwalk--which is a little mall with high end shops and arcades and tiny childrens rides and casino surrounding a beautiful water feature mini lake. Ask for room away from parking lot. Guys whistle and scream ALL the time. Hotel moved me to another room. WONDERFUL customer care. The shuttle to/from airport NOT free. I would not stay anywhere else! Wonderful surprise of a hotel. Pictures do not do it justice. Kentucky Fried chicken on the block also.

Exploring Port Elizabeth myself & some tipsPosted Dec 26, 2012
Pros: Great cocktails!
Location: Best location out of all of the hotels!
Hotel is located in the most convenient location! Right next to the boardwalk where there are plenty of activities, shopping, dining, etc. Across from the beach which is busy with all different ages (stay near the lifeguards as it is not safe to roam by yourself down the beach and many will tell you this). The pier is also there and offers an amazing view of the coastline. A short 10 minute walk to Pick & Pay which is a grocery store within a shopping plaza. A little further is the Radisson Hotel which has an amazing spa- Camelot Spa. In the opposite direction there is a park, open market, another beach, and a line of excellent restaurants on the opposite side of the beach. You must explore here! All is within walking distance. The staff at the Beach Hotel was fantastic. Will help you go wherever you need to go. You can leave your keys with the front desk which is also great. Room service menu is yummy- especially the paninis. Always a taxi waiting outside of the hotel. Cheaper alternative to taking a taxi? Try the "DOWN DOWN DOWN" bus. It's a minibus and is 8 rand to take. A little sketchy, would not advise taking this at night, however, very cheap way to get around. Favorite restaurants: The Coachman, Cubanas, Squires,

Great experiencePosted Nov 6, 2012 on Hotels.com
As a professional traveller i was terrified booking this hotel, as as most logic was against it. Such as: Not a major Brand hotel chain, Older property with outdated decor, No luxury amenities like a spa, priced much lower then the neighbouring hotels and most importantly it was NOT one of the recommended hotels by the event organizers. However, I am glad I took the chance, because i had a wonderful experience! First of all the property is located in the Center of Mandela Bay next door to the Boardwalk Entertainment/shopping/casino/convention complex where i had my business in at. Certainly beats the idea of attmpting to drive on the "wrong" side of the road or taking a chance with local transportation for five days. I booked the delux room with an ocean view, which proved to be very nice and roomy. The entire hotel had a turn of the (last) century palace feel to it including the service, as i was treated like a royal all the way through. Seriously, I haven't received such attention to detail for a long time. The breakfast buffet is outstanding as well as the dining experience. When I notified the front desk about my unexpected free day, within minutes they organised my whole day including a 5 star Safari experience at their very own Private Game Reserve (Pumba) and a 3 hour City tour. This stay was overall a very pleasent suprize.
